The Senior Vice President, Stakeholder Engagement is a key member of the JPS Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for driving an integrated stakeholder engagement strategy.

 Summary:

The Senior Vice President, Stakeholder Engagement is a key member of the JPS Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for driving an integrated stakeholder engagement strategy.  The incumbent will develop and execute policies and initiatives to foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Government of Jamaica, regulatory bodies, civil society, advocacy groups, the media and the wider public. This role is critical in strengthening JPS’s public image, trust and national partnerships, advancing energy goals, navigating complex regulatory frameworks, ensuring regulatory compliance and enhancing the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts.

This is a dynamic leadership role that requires a confident, politically astute, purpose-driven, strategic leader with a deep understanding of stakeholder sentiment in Jamaica, strong cultural competence and the ability to align public engagement with corporate priorities, ensuring the company's long-term success in Jamaica’s energy sector.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Law, Political Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience, with at least 7 years in stakeholder engagement, government relations, corporate affairs, or regulatory strategy in a high-impact environment
  • Proven leadership in managing media relations, crisis communication, corporate reputation and government negotiations
  • Proven experience managing complex external environments, including interactions with senior government officials, regulatory bodies and community leaders
  • Excellent financial acumen, including experience in budget management and cost optimization

Major Duties:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive stakeholder engagement framework aligned with JPS’s strategic direction and public responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, negotiating policies, tariffs, and compliance matters that impact JPS operations, ensuring long-term viability and affordability of electricity services
  • Monitor legislative and policy developments, assessing risks and opportunities JPS operations while advocating for regulatory frameworks that support the sustainable growth of the energy sector
  • Oversee all corporate communication strategies to enhance JPS’s reputation and ensure consistent, transparent, compelling, effective messaging to the public, media, and key stakeholders across all platforms
  • Lead the JPS Foundation in developing measurable and impactful corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs that drive social and economic benefits for Jamaican communities
