POSITION OVERVIEW
The Loadboard Manager is a mission-critical role responsible for monitoring freight load boards, securing profitable loads, and ensuring maximum truck utilisation across the company’s fleet. This position requires deep
industry knowledge of load board platforms, freight pricing, broker negotiations, and logistics operations. The ideal candidate brings proven experience in freight procurement and thrives in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor multiple load boards daily (DAT, Truckstop, Convoy, and others) to identify and secure optimal freight for semi trucks and box trucks.
Match available loads to the right trucks based on driver hours-of-service (HOS), location, deadhead miles, and profitability.
Negotiate competitive freight rates with brokers and shippers to maximise revenue per load.
Book loads and coordinate all pickup and delivery appointments with shippers, receivers, and dispatchers.
Communicate load details - pickup numbers, appointment windows, special handling instructions - to the dispatch team.
Track every load from pickup through final delivery, proactively resolving delays or issues.
Maintain accurate records of booked loads, negotiated rates, and broker/shipper relationships in TMS software.
Analyse lane rates, market trends, and fuel surcharge data to advise on pricing strategy.
Collaborate with dispatchers and fleet managers to eliminate deadhead miles and improve overall efficiency.
Build and grow a network of preferred brokers and direct shippers for recurring freight.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of hands-on experience using DAT, Truckstop, or comparable load board platforms in a trucking or logistics environment.
Strong understanding of semi-truck and box truck operations, including freight classes, weight limits, and dimensional requirements.
Solid knowledge of shipping documentation: BOL (Bill of Lading), rate confirmations, and PODs.
Proven negotiation skills with brokers and shippers.
Ability to multitask and make fast, data-driven decisions under pressure.
Proficiency in TMS, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business preferred.
Available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends when freight demand requires.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with Samsara, KeepTruckin, or similar fleet management/ELD platforms.
Background in freight brokerage or as an owner-operator dispatcher.
Familiarity with FMCSA regulations and DOT compliance requirements.
