To oversee the health and safety portfolio of the division, ensuring compliance with all local and international standards.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITES:
• Development of a comprehensive health and safety policy and standards for the Plant with an aim to achieve safety
excellence.
• Establish a detailed HSE implementation plan.
• Assess and advise management on all HSE issues on an on-going basis.
• Determine training needs and assist in the development and delivery of training programmes for all employees.
• Supervise the implementation of all approved HSE practices on a daily basis.
• Conduct daily inspection of plant and personnel to ensure conformity and compliance with the Company’s HSE
standards and OSHA.
• Prepare reports after daily inspections, inclusive of recommendation of preventative mechanisms wherever there are
indicators that the Company’s operations could lead to non-compliance with OSHA.
• Monitor the environmental management of the plant with specific reference to the discharge of any hazardous waste.
• Conduct audits of corrective actions to ensure compliance with HSE standards
• Investigate accidents providing complete incidents report.
• Provide interpretation and advice on relevant laws and regulations governing HSE.
• In collaboration with the Plant Manager, liaise with all external bodies, agencies and authorities on matters related to
HSE.
• Liaise with vendors and contractors on company projects for HSE issues.
• Serve on the Company’s HSE committee.
• Assist with the preparation of budgets for the administration of HSE.
• Conduct trend analysis for incidents, near misses and safe behaviour for management reporting.
• Maintain records and documents related to HSE.
• Perform any other related duties incidental or consequential to the above mentioned functions as determined by
Management.
JOB SPECIFICATION:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field from a . recognized university; OR
- National Examination Board of Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Diploma/Certificate (or equivalent recognized professional certification in HSE)
Experience:
- A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in an HSE role within the manufacturing sector is essential.
- Proven experience in the implementation and sustainment of HSE Management Systems (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
Knowledge:
- Demonstrated proficiency in performing detailed risk assessments and various HSE-related inspections.
- Thorough knowledge of Trinidad and Tobago HSE legislation and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSH Act, EMA Acts).
- Familiarity with international HSE standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, API, ISO series).
