The incumbent is responsible for direct, control and report on the Authority’s financial accounting operations so as to facilitate the achievement of its short, medium and long term financial objectives.

VACANCY 

Applications are invited for suitably qualified persons to fill the following position at the North-Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA). 

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT

The incumbent will be responsible to direct, control and report on the Authority’s financial accounting operations so as to facilitate the achievement of its short, medium and long term financial objectives, compliance with institutional, regulatory, governmental and industry requirements and inform strategic management decisions. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assists in developing and monitoring financial policies and procedures within EWMSC.
  • Manages the Accounts Payables portfolio.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual Financial Statements to provide managers with information for effective decision making.
  • Maintains the General Ledger.
  • Implements and maintains Financial Accounting Systems.
  • Ensures the timely distribution of information to relevant departments and personnel and the appropriateness of such information.
  • Analyzes information and prepares departmental reports.
  • Monitors and reports on the accounts receivable balance, ensuring that the control accounts in the General Ledger agree with the Sub-ledgers.
  • Assists in the development and training of staff and participates in the planning of such programs.
  • Monitors staff attitudes and concerns and makes appropriate recommendations to minimize problems.
  • Assists with the maintenance of staff records with respect to leave, absenteeism etc., and to take the necessary action after consultation with the Human Resource Department.
  • Ensure corporate compliance with institutional and regulatory stipulations or guidelines.
  • Liaise with customers, attorneys, suppliers and representatives of statutory, regulatory and financial institutions as necessary for the achievement of corporate objectives.
  • Perform any other related duties as directed by the organisational relationship.

Minimum Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • B.Sc. in Accounting/Finance/ACCA
  • Professional designation e.g ACCA, CMA, CIMA.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and accounting packages.
  • Seven (7) years’ experience in a similar field at a senior level including four (4) years with a large auditing firm.

* Certificates acquired at foreign universities MUST be supported by certified transcripts as well as evidence that the completed program is accredited in Trinidad and Tobago.
