COMPLIANCE OFFICER

Main functions:

As a Compliance Officer, you will uphold the Food Safety Regulations as outlined by Jamaica’s local regulations with guidance from the Quality Assurance Manager of our company. You will also be required to supervise the activities carried out throughout the batching, production and sanitation process to guarantee that all our products meet stipulated quality standards and, regulatory and customer requirements.

The chosen candidate is required to supervise and perform, where applicable, product and process evaluation, product and process investigation, documentation, verification of sanitation and quality records, and oversee the implementation of corrective action or improvement which have been approved by the Quality Assurance Manager or the management team in relation to Quality Assurance, Food Safety or Process Improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in monitoring and updating existing HACCP, SOP and Food Safety programs, procedures, and documents.
  • Maintain floor presence (specifically mix plant and sanitation) to ensure activities are being carried out as outlined in the established SOPs.
  • Audit processing operations to ensure compliance to established CCPs.
  • Assist with conducting traceability exercises and mock recalls.
  • Log and report all deviations affecting food safety to the Quality Assurance Manager and all relevant persons.
  • Manage the correction and corrective action system and ensure the performance of structured root cause analysis after non-conformances are found. Report on system’s status at minimum monthly.
  • Review all records as required by the food safety program, investigate breaches, and implement measures to address shortfalls.
  • Manage allergen control program and adherence to same. Manage the document and record control system according to standard: This includes guiding creation, storage, categorization, sharing, reviewing as per review anniversary, and archiving and / or destruction.
  • Trend and review all data collected to determine and report patterns.
  • Assist in driving and improving quality and food safety culture.

Qualifications/Competence/Experiences:

  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a similar capacity
  • A first degree in Food Science, Biochemistry, or related discipline
  • Good knowledge and understanding of quality control, laboratory techniques and use of laboratory equipment
  • Proficient in documentation and record keeping.
  • Training in Good Manufacturing Practice & Food Safety Standards is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Proficient in communication; spoken and written English language.
  • Must be punctual, accurate, reliable, and flexible.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office in particular Word and Excel.
