The CIP Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing processing equipment, tanks, and production lines using Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems. This role ensures all equipment used in ice cream manufacturing meets strict food safety, hygiene, and quality standards before and after production.

CIP Technician

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor CIP systems for cleaning of pasteurizers, mix tanks, freezers, pipelines, and fillers
  • Safely prepare and handle cleaning chemicals (detergents, sanitizers, acids, alkalis)
  • Follow validated CIP cycles (rinse, wash, sanitize) according to SOPs
  • Inspect equipment for cleanliness and report any contamination risks
  • Record CIP parameters (chemical concentration, temperature, flow rate, time)
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards  
  • Disassemble and manually clean equipment parts when required
  • Troubleshoot CIP system issues
  • Coordinate with production to ensure timely cleaning between batches and flavour changes
  • Maintain sanitation records and logs for audits
  • Assist in validation and verification of cleaning processes
  • Ensure proper waste disposal and environmental compliance

 

Key Equipment & Systems:

  • Mix and aging tanks, homogenizers
  • Pasteurizers and freezers
  • Pipelines and valves

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or technical certification
  • 1–3 years of experience in food manufacturing, dairy, or beverage industry
  • Experience with CIP systems and sanitation processes preferred

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GMP)
  • Understanding of chemical handling and safety procedures
  • Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills
  • Attention to detail and cleanliness
  • Ability to read gauges, meters, and process data
  • Good record-keeping and documentation skills
  • Teamwork and communication skills

 

Working Conditions:

  • Cold and wet environment (typical in ice cream production)
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals
  • Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Standing for long periods and occasional lifting
  • Efficient in Chemical usage
