Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Group Technology team in the capacity of:

 

 

Solutions Architect

 

 

Provide technical guidance and leadership within a team of software engineers.

 

Work closely with our internal and external partners to utilize proven technology to create an ecosystem that is consistent, predictable, and interoperable.

 

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, project managers, product owners and business analysts to ensure that our solutions meet the business’ needs.

 

 

Location: Kingston 

 

 

As a Solutions Architect, you will:

 

  • Evaluate and undertake impact analysis on major technical options and take a lead role in proposing technical solutions within area of expertise.
  • Take responsibility for investigative work to seek effective business solutions for assigned projects.
  • Plan, arrange and control meetings, workshops and relations with clients/user staff during system investigations and throughout subsequent development work
  • Take technical responsibility for most stages of the life cycle for software development of all types of systems
  • Set guidelines for the preparation of policies and procedure manuals.
  • Coordinate the preparation of detailed documentation on the operation of programs for users and computer operators.
  • Undertake all work in accordance with required technical and quality standards and using appropriate methods and tools in order to achieve well-engineered products.
  • Apply automated and manual tools including ‘black box’ and ‘white box’ testing, to test and evaluate systems and networks under development.
  • Perform thorough unit testing and peer review to ensure that quality output of development is maintained.
  • Take responsibility for the definition, documentation and execution of one or more projects, providing effective leadership to team members where applicable.
  • Maintain links with appropriate counterparts within both software engineering and service delivery functions and play a full part in bringing systems to implementation as detailed by organization policies and methods.
  • Communicate with software vendors, to develop system designs in specific functionality requirements.
  • Participate and provide leadership to the positions supervised through use of timely and effective communication, guidance and support.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance in daily activities by strictly adhering to data privacy regulations/acts and relevant cybersecurity policies, and defined standards, guidelines, and procedures to avoid non-compliance and associated risks
  • Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.

 

 

What do you need?

 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Qualifications in industry specific certifications such as TOGAF, AWS, Azure and GCP would be an asset.
  • A minimum of five (5) years full-time software development experience in an enterprise environment.
  • Minimum of (1) year supervisory experience.
  • Working experience in a financial institution would be an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, MS SQL, Informix), and proven usage within and enterprise level application.
  • Working knowledgeable of DevSecOps.
  • Experience with fully automating CI/CD pipelines.
  • Expert knowledge in object-oriented languages such as Java and C#.
  • Experience in at least one (1) JavaScript framework.
  • Experience creating unit, integration, and functional tests.
  • Experience using various operating systems such as Linux and Windows.
  • Experience in application systems integration, of various complexities.
  • Expert knowledge in System Development Life Cycle methodologies.
  • Experience following software through its full life cycle, including data collection and analysis to identify software needs, project proposals, development, testing, release, and maintenance of programs.
  • Demonstrated ability in balancing project assignments together with ongoing problem resolution/change requests for multiple application systems of average complexity and timelines for both local and group wide solutions.
  • Must be organized, have an eye for detail, and be able to put ideas into tangible formats.
  • Strong analytical/critical thinking skills.
  • Results oriented, sound time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong appreciation for Information Security.
  • Maintain an ongoing awareness of emerging developments and trends in technology that could impact current projects and influence new projects.
