Shipping & Inventory Clerk (Distribution Sector)

Overview: Our client is recognized as a premier distribution company across the Caribbean who provide seamless logistics solutions for leading pharmaceutical & consumer brands to multiple territories. Due to growth they are seeking to appoint a competent professional to assist in the smooth operations of the logistics department of the Barbados operation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist with the operation of the warehouses in a smooth and efficient manner to serve the company and its customers in an efficient and courteous manner while receiving, putting away, picking, dispatching and shipping all items in the shortest possible time without causing damage or disruption.
• Inspect products for quality, quantity, and accuracy against packing slips or purchase orders.
• Report and document any discrepancies or damages.
• Promptly and accurately receiving and checking all incoming inventory of goods.
• Receiving and processing all returned products.
• Executing the entire process for offloading vehicles and containers when required.
• Receiving, checking, unpacking, packing and dispatching goods and items.
• Safely and efficiently store products in designated warehouse locations.
• Keeping the goods, items, shelves, floors and surrounding areas clean and tidy, including where necessary the removal of dust, dirt, empty packages, boxes and paper in order to keep the goods and Warehouse clean at all times. 
• Rotate stock and use the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method to ensure product freshness.
• Conduct regular cycle counts and participate in periodic physical inventories.
• Entering inventory into the computer.
• Communicate stock shortages or overages to the Warehouse Supervisor or appropriate Manager.
• Participating in all inventory and stock count activities.
• Picking goods from pallets, pallet racking, coolers, shelves etc. (which may include the use of a Forklift, pallet truck, trolley and other similar equipment/machinery) while ensuring the prompt and efficient receipt and dispatch of these goods and items.
• Accurately and promptly pick and pack goods for shipment including resourcing and preparation of pallets and the loading of trucks and containers for shipment ensuring proper documentation is included.
• Prepare all documents required for shipments.
• Follow proper procedures for packaging, labeling, and documentation according to regulatory requirements.
• Handling of inter-warehouse transfers when required.
• Operating all systems, either manually or computerized, to facilitate the handling of invoices, pick slips, inventory and customers or other staff enquiries and orders.
• Coordinate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
• Track shipments and provide status updates to internal stakeholders.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Secondary School Education including qualifications in Mathematics and English.
• Ability to operate a computer.
• Dependable with the ability to work shifts including weekends and bank holidays.
• Ability to operate a forklift is preferred but not essential.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working in shipping, logistics and/or warehousing is preferred.
