Housekeeping Supervisor

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Executive Housekeeper in ensuring that the department is operated in a smooth and efficient manner while maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness within the hotel and ensuring that all departmental equipment is in working order.

Summary of Duties

• The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all Housekeeping areas of responsibility are run effectively in the absence of the Head of Department, in line with standards and that the department is adequately resourced in line with business requirements
• Maintain the highest standard of cleanliness, hygiene and personal appearance at all times.
• Lead, train and supervise housekeeping staff to ensure all rooms and public areas meet established cleanliness and quality standards
• Comply with rules, regulations and company policies as outlined in the employee handbook at all times.
• Train staff in the correct cleaning procedures, use of cleaning materials and equipment according to the manufacturer’s directions.
• Supervise and inspect the cleaning of guest rooms, bathrooms, public areas and corridors on a daily basis; including daily arrival checks

Skills, Abilities and Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years’ proven experience Housekeeping Supervisor or similar role
• Minimum of three CXCs (or an equivalent) including Mathematics and English Language.
• Must be able to work in a high paced environment without compromising attention to detail.
• Must be able to train employees effectively and recognize the need for coaching and counselling
• Knowledge of laundry operation would be an asset.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to lift at least 30 pounds.
• Guest-oriented and service-minded.
• Excellent communication skills and leadership skills.
