The Securities Custodian ensures safekeeping, tracking, and administration of client securities, maintaining compliance, managing risk, and supporting efficient operations through accurate record-keeping and best practices.

Overview:

The Securities Custodian is responsible for ensuring the safe-keeping, management, and administration of securities and other financial instruments held in custody for the bank’s clients. This role involves the safekeeping, tracking and maintenance of securities, and the implementation of best practices for compliance, risk management, and operational efficiency.

Core Functions:

  • Review all Mortgage bills of Sale (MBOS) and other security types (in T24) submissions from the businesses AMBL, AMBBL, ABL in a timely and accurate manner ensuring completeness in the operation.
  • Preparation of the affidavits for submission to the Legal Depts for the re-registration process (MBOS) one month in advance based on reports available.
  • Accurately Reviewing all loan files for collaterals, insurances, etc on Lending products in the banking system (T24) to highlight inconsistencies and reduce risk to the businesses.
  • Following with branches for missing documentation based on reviews carried out.
  • Review/ Create and manage digital folders as first point of reference when retrieving data for queries raised by other business lines.
  • The review of Insurance policies due to mature at least a month in advance of the maturity date to ensure that assets are covered.
  • Liaise with client, insurance company, brokers to obtain necessary renewal endorsements.
  • Data capture renewed insurance information in T24 to allow for reporting and review.
  • Accurately recording all documents submitted in the appropriate logs and ensuring all records are updated.
  • Actively tracking all returned documents to the relevant branches for completion and inclusion of necessary supports.
  • Timely review of submissions for completeness and documentation to be filed as per documented procedures/guidelines.
  • Confirm of loan payoffs on T24 prior to issuing release letters for Securities held in favour of the business.
  • Providing support to other areas in the Operations department when needed.
  • Liaise with your one up to ensure daily targets/SLAs are met.
  • Any other duties as direct by the business/Manager.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant professional qualification or a mixture of both education and experience.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role or within the Financial Services Industry.
  • Microsoft Office Suite i.e. Word, Excel, Access.
  • Display exceptional customer service and have a pleasant disposition.
  • Respond timely and efficiently to customer requests.
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Motivated, flexible and ability to use own initiative.
  • T24 experience in the Lending will be an asset.
  • Must be able to prioritise and multitask.
  • Capacity to handle competing deadlines.
