Job Summary:

The Production/Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient day-to-day operations of the manufacturing floor during assigned shifts. This role ensures that production targets are met safely, on time, and in accordance with quality standards and company procedures. The Supervisor leads and coordinates shift activities, monitors workflow compliance, facilitates real-time problem-solving, and supports the implementation of operational systems, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This position requires strong leadership, technical acumen, and the ability to communicate clearly across departments to maintain production momentum, team alignment, and data accuracy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Shift Leadership & Operational Execution

  • Supervise and coordinate all activities across the shift to ensure safety, productivity, quality, and housekeeping standards are met.
  • Monitor and manage production workflows via ERP systems (e.g., Radius), ensuring job receipts, completions, and stop codes are accurately processed in real-time.
  • Lead daily shift huddles, assign tasks, and address any workforce or workflow bottlenecks.
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for operational or personnel issues on shift and coordinate timely resolution.

Production Systems & Workflow Compliance

  • Ensure team compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), including job setup, shutdown, and quality checks.
  • Log and track shift issues, equipment downtime, and service requests through systems such as MaintainX.
  • Ensure smooth handovers between shifts through proper communication, documentation, and shift reporting practices.
  • Monitor shipping/receiving workflows for production-related compliance and accuracy.

Team Coordination & Development

  • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance support to operators and junior team members.
  • Participate in the onboarding and cross-training of team members across multiple production lines.
  • Support development of role-specific training tracks, ensuring team readiness for multi-machine and multi-role competency.
  • Champion adherence to documented processes in SystemHUB, driving standardization across shifts.

Data Accuracy & Reporting

  • Review and validate shift data to ensure accuracy in ERP and Business Intelligence (BI) systems.
  • Use BI dashboards to monitor shift KPIs such as OEE, waste, uptime, and throughput.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager to analyze trends, identify performance gaps, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Submit timely reports on shift production, workforce performance, material usage, and incidents.

Continuous Improvement & OKR Execution

  • Support execution of production OKRs (Objectives & Key Results) by embedding key goals into daily operations.
  • Provide input on root cause investigations and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Lead small improvement projects on shift with measurable outcomes in safety, efficiency, and quality.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to identify, communicate, and address production challenges.

Training & Compliance

  • Ensure all mandatory and shift-specific training is delivered, documented, and followed through.
  • Coordinate with HR, Quality, and HSSE teams to maintain compliance with safety protocols and quality systems.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer through mentoring and promoting documentation usage.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • 3+ years in a manufacturing environment with supervisory responsibilities is considered an asset.
  • Experience using ERP/MES systems (e.g., Radius, SAP, Oracle) and BI dashboards.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools.
  • Comfortable with shift work and production floor oversight.
  • Computer literate (MS Excel, Planner, SystemHUB or similar platform
