Position Title: Procurement Lead
Department: Procurement / Supply Chain
Reports To: CEO 
Location: Kingston, Jamaica

Position Overview

The Procurement Lead is responsible for managing and overseeing all purchasing and sourcing activities of Stationery World & Book Center Ltd. This role ensures the company secures the best value in goods and services by developing strong supplier relationships, negotiating favorable terms, and maintaining cost-efficient procurement practices. The Procurement Lead will play a critical role in supporting business growth, inventory efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

 


 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement & Sourcing

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to support business goals and growth.

  • Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and reliability.

  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts with suppliers to optimize cost savings.

Supplier Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers.

  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to delivery, quality, or compliance.

  • Maintain an updated supplier database and explore alternative sources to reduce risk.

Operational Management

  • Oversee daily procurement activities, including purchase orders and supplier communications.

  • Coordinate with the warehouse and sales departments to ensure timely replenishment of stock.

  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and legal requirements.

  • Monitor industry trends, market pricing, and currency fluctuations to manage risk.

  • Implement procurement best practices to drive efficiency and transparency.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare procurement reports including cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory trends.

  • Analyze spending data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency.

  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to procurement.

 


 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.

  • 3–5 years’ experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain (retail/distribution experience is an asset).

  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.

  • Knowledge of inventory management systems and procurement software.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

  • Ability to work independently and lead procurement projects.
