Marine Pilot - Class I

Plan and execute safe and efficient pilotage operations. Assist with the operations of the Maritime Administration.

Reporting to the Port Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for but not limited to the following:-

• Plan and execute safe and efficient pilotage operations including providing directives to the Launch Crew and Linesmen;

• Prepare and submit marine billing information on pilotage to the Accountant;

• Inform Masters of all ships calling at the ports of St. George and Carriacou and the approaches of all published notices to Mariners;

• Report faulty Aids to Navigation, pollution incidents and any anomaly that may endanger safety of navigation to Port Manager;

• Report unseaworthy ships and unsafe practices onboard ships with ships within GPA jurisdiction to Port Manager;

• Carry out timely and accurate survey of all waterfront accidents/incidents for the purpose of protecting GPA interest against any claims;

• Enforce Harbour Regulations;

• Providing instructions and mentoring to Apprentice Pilots;

• Assisting in the maintenance or proper record, navigational information, marine notices and other relevant data;

• Functioning as Patrol Officer on patrols and special excursions of the Authority’s Launch Crew;

• Generally assisting with the operations of the Maritime Administration;

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

The minimum qualification requirement a Master Mariner Class 1 on a Bachelor in Nautical Science or its equivalent from a recognized institution with at least five (5) years working experience.
