Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Group Corporate Accounting team in the capacity of:
Manager - Real Estate (Corporate Accounting)
Responsible for the strategic planning, analysis and management of the company’s property portfolio.
Comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks and reporting standards, as well as a robust grasp of key performance indicators relevant to real estate operations.
Review historical property performance, forecast future results, and drive improvements in process and policy.
Location: Kingston
As a Real Estate Manager, you will:
- Ensure that all financial transactions are appropriately recorded, and that the ledger reflects the true financial condition of the company.
- Evaluate, monitor & manage control procedures and financial reporting processes surrounding the general ledger (bank reconciliations, sub-ledger reconciliations, account analyses, fixed asset register, expense variance reports etc.).
- Prepare statutory financial reports/returns including commentary on variances as directed, this includes draft tax returns, withholding tax returns and submissions to the regulators.
- Identify specialized financial reporting requirements for statutory/regulatory and other filing requirements and implementing processes to achieve timely and accurate submission.
- Provide sound direction and training for the team, including the monitoring of performance on an on-going basis, completion written appraisal and providing assistance in recruiting staff as required.
- Analyse current and past financial data and performance.
- Create detailed business analyses, outlining problems, opportunities, and solutions.
- Plan and lead the budgeting process.
- Streamline and improve internal and external reporting, to provide financial insights that help the decision-making process.
- Develop and maintain a strong, motivated and skilled team to meet the challenging needs of the business, ensuring that appropriate career guidance and training is provided.
- Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
- MBA or Msc. in Accounting/Finance from a recognized tertiary institution.
- ACCA or CPA is an asset.
- A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Statistics.
- Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
- Strong accounting background.
- Strong technological, analytical and data gathering skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Experience working with and presenting to senior executives.
- Excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proven leadership abilities.
- Knowledge of stated policies & procedures.
- Knowledge of the company’s products, services, and operations.
- Knowledge of any relevant regulatory requirements and applicable tax law.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
