To plan, lead, and coordinate all maintenance, engineering, and facilities activities to ensure optimal performance, reliability, safety, and compliance of plant equipment, utilities, buildings, and infrastructure in support of efficient biscuit manufacturing operations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITES:
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
• Lead, manage, and coordinate all activities of the Maintenance and Facilities support team.
• Provide strong leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to maintenance technicians and facilities staff.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and develop technical staff to ensure current and future capability needs are met.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and identify training, development, and succession needs.
• Manage employee relations issues including discipline, motivation, and recognition in line with company policies.
• Ensure the quality, safety, and technical accuracy of all work performed by the team.
MAINTENANCE & OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
• Develop and implement maintenance policies, procedures, and standards for equipment, utilities, and infrastructure.
• Plan and manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
• Ensure timely response to equipment breakdowns, fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and effective repairs.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in maintenance practices, energy use, and asset lifecycle
management.
• Analyze equipment performance and resource needs, recommending capital expenditures for plant upgrades and
improvements.
• Manage the selection, purchasing, installation, and commissioning of new equipment within budgetary constraints.
• Review, evaluate, and recommend service contracts, maintenance agreements, and cost estimates for approval.
• Prepare and submit departmental reports, KPIs, and budgets, monitoring expenditures and performance against
targets.
BUILDING & FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
• Collaborate with Group Facilities Maintenance Department and develop and implement a proactive maintenance
program for all buildings, utilities, and facilities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Oversee repairs, renovations, remodeling, and general upkeep of plant buildings, offices, and external areas.
• Coordinate activities with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely and high-quality completion of
work.
• Develop and manage cleaning and maintenance schedules for all facilities, including flooring, Heating, Ventilation, Air
Conditioning, and utilities.
• Prepare, manage, and control the facilities maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
• Track, analyze, and report on budget variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire, environmental, and building regulations at all times.
• Support energy efficiency, sustainability initiatives, and proper waste management practices in collaboration with other
managers.
• Monitor contractor and vendor performance, ensuring compliance with service-level agreements and safety
requirements.
Food Safety, Quality & Compliance (GMP / ISO / FSSC 22000)
• Ensure all maintenance and facilities activities comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, ISO 9001, and all applicable food safety and quality standards.
• Ensure maintenance practices do not compromise food safety, product quality, or hygiene in production areas.
• Develop and enforce hygienic engineering and maintenance standards for all food-contact and non-food-contact
equipment.
• Ensure all maintenance work in production areas follows permit-to-work, line clearance, and sanitation protocols.
• Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Production teams to schedule maintenance activities that minimize
contamination risks.
• Ensure proper segregation of tools, spare parts, lubricants, and chemicals in accordance with food-grade and GMP
requirements.
• Manage and maintain accurate maintenance records, calibration logs, and service reports required for internal,
customer, and certification audits.
• Ensure all critical equipment is included in preventive and predictive maintenance programs to support HACCP, OPRPs,
and CCPs.
• Participate in food safety risk assessments, hazard analyses, and change management processes related to equipment,
utilities, and facilities.
• Ensure contractors and external service providers comply with GMP, safety, and food safety rules while on site.
• Support internal audits, third-party audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections, and ensure timely closure of
corrective actions.
• Promote a strong food safety culture within the Maintenance and Facilities team through training, supervision, and
leadership.
• Ensure utilities (compressed air, water, steam, HVAC) meet food safety and quality specifications and are monitored
regularly.
• Support validation and verification of cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance effectiveness in production areas.
JOB SPECIFICATION:
QUALIFICATION / EDUCATION:
• Degree in Engineering with specialization in Electrical / Electronic / Industrial disciplines
• Post-graduate degree in Engineering would be an asset
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
• At least 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably in the food manufacturing industry) at a senior
level
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Excellent leadership and analytical skills
• Experience with reading electrical blueprints
• Knowledge of high voltage systems
• Proficiency with MS Office suite
• Experience with CMMS
