Overseeing QC processes and ensuring adherence to quality standards .

Position Summary

As the QC Supervisor, you will be required to play a critical role in ensuring that the products blended, brewed and bottled meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and consistency. This position involves overseeing the QC processes, QC Staff, Blending Staff and analyzing samples, ensuring compliance with industry standards, HACCP Standards and best practice.

Key Responsibilities 

Quality Control

  1. Review and ensure PU records and pasteurizer temperature settings are as required/compliant to established records and procedures.
  2. Review and ensaure all product is tested for pH, colour, Total acidity, brix, colour and taste (and any otherwise stated test) and all results are recorded as per requirements (date, time, batch number, etc...)
  3. Monitor production process (filling) to ensure clarity, CO2, air, cap torque, crown crimping, fill height and volume etc... are as per requirements.
  4. Monitor production process (labelling/packaging) to ensure all is as per requirements (e.g. labels, label positioning, coding and final packaging)
  5. Monitor and ensure sanitizing and Clean in Process (CIP) operations are done as per requirements.
  6. Verify and ensure analyses of water is done as per requirements - plant (brewing and blending), water softener and boiler and is recorded as per requirements.
  7. Monitor water quality for production (pipe borne and truck borne)
  8. Perform routine Quality Control analysis on all production processes, inclusive of ensuring stock and stock rotation, as necessary, for bottling materials (raw material and incoming packaging)
  9. Record and maintain quality control documentation such as log books for product traceability and accountability.
  10. Prepare weekly reports (or as required) in the form of graphs, charts, reports on QC process perormance.
  11. Maintain lab records as required, utilizing soft and hard copy (paper and electronic file), ensuring to document and record methods of analyses, standards, etc..
  12. Ensure and perform calibration and verification tests (where possible) on all relevant lab equipment and recommend corrective action when required.
  13. Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the QC Lab and manufacturing areas as guided by the Company's GMP and other implemented standards.
  14. Conduct all duties in accordance with the Company's Food Safety and HSE Policy and in accordance to the stated standards.
Blending

1. Provide supervision for Blending operation shifts/staff for daily blending for both SAMBA PLANT #1 and PLANT #2 (CCB)
Losses Control
  1. Record and review records of all product manufacture during processing inclusive of balance daily batch yield (Liquid in tank versus Bottled cases) to account for all liquid losses. Utilize Production Line Supervisors to ensure this is done accurately and precisely.
  2. Document and record the transfer of all product to SAMBA PLANT #2 (CCB) on a daily basis (as required), review and report on daily batch yield (Liquid transferred versus bottled cases) to account for all liquid losses.
  3. Monitor, document and record CO2 uasge to determine losses, yields, etc...
Other Duties
  1. Ensure complaince with HACCP standard, i.e. ensuring adherence to practices and documentation requirements and participating in audits.
  2. Fulfill legal obligation with regards to Occupational Safety and Health requirements as stipulated in the OSH Act 2004, as amended 2006, as an employee.
  3. Place requisitions for lab consumables and lab equipment.
  4. Maintain all lab equipment in good working order.
  5. Supervise all lab QC Staff and all brewing and bledning staff.

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Diploma or BSC in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or equivalent. 
  • Experience in HACCP or FSSC 22000 or equivalent food safety standard
  • QC/QA Lab Training 
  • At least 2 years' experience as a QC/QA Lab Technician in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite program and other relevant software.
