The Opportunity- LAUNDRY MANAGER
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, skilled and highly motivated individual to join our Housekeeping Team.
The Laundry Manager is responsible for hotel laundry daily operations and services. This role manages the process and directs employees to wash, dry and iron hotel linen within determined time constraints. Responsible for the planning, controlling and coordination of the operations of the laundry in accordance with Company standards. Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
Summary of Main Duties:
• Manage overall workflow and process to receive and launder dirty linen on a daily basis, avoiding peaks and downtime in production, and ensuring timely turnover.
• Liaise and coordinate with relevant departments in relation to daily linen requirements, to ensure laundry operations cater to departmental needs and overall Company goals.
• Inspect the quality of all output from the laundry.
• Maintain par-stock, and complete inventory counts of linen and supplies at required intervals.
• Manage day-to-day operations of the laundry, ensuring that quality and safety standards are maintained at all times.
• Provide monthly report on Laundry Operations -amounts washed and dried, staffing and additional expenses.
• Plan and prepare weekly work schedules for the laundry team.
• Supervise and manage employees on a daily basis in a manner that builds employee engagement and ensures compliance with standards, procedures and policies.
• Conduct staff training, address disciplinary issues with appropriate actions, providing performance feedback and conducting employee performance appraisals.
• Complete work orders for maintenance and repairs and follow-up with relevant departments to bring attention to urgent repairs.
• Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment and ensure that equipment is used only as intended.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of the laundry, equipment and individual work areas.
• Maintain correct stock and proper supplies, managing inventory and ensuring that laundry staff always have access to supplies, working equipment and tools necessary to perform duties.
• Attend to complaints, requests and enquiries in an efficient yet friendly manner.
• Perform all administrative duties necessary to achieve and maintain the operations of the Laundry at the highest degree of profit and efficiency.
• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/ service procedures/standards.
• To be ready and responsible when assigned, to perform any other duties as required from time to time by the Management.
The ideal candidate will possess:
• At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar role.
• Read and understand all instructions, complications and hazards of chemicals used.
• Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and evenings as scheduled.
• Strong knowledge of garment care techniques and laundry operations
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage and motivate a team of laundry staff
• Attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
• Proficiency in operating laundry equipment and machinery
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in the laundry industry
• Effective communication and customer service skills
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Ability to handle and resolve customer complaints or issues
• Knowledge of garment care products and their appropriate usage
