Inventory Controller

WORK CONTENT: Responsibilities will involve active supervision and layout of all available storage space within the warehouse and compound as appropriate and would therefore require daily walking in the warehouse and yard including dusty environments.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and implement inventory systems, policies and procedures in alignment with the company’s strategic objectives including to Maintain and organise inventory ensuring safe and secure storage and proper turnover and Accountability
  2. Managing stock levels, tracking inventory, and implementing strategies to minimize waste and maximize storage space.
  3. Reviewing inventory records and making Purchase requests to ensure timely replenishment of all inventory items and site assets.
  4. Conduct periodic inventory counts ensuring that the physical stock matches warehouse records, reconciling any differences and respond to all queries and discrepancies reported by the Accounts department.
  5. Identify, analyse and report inventory shortages, major errors, excessive wastage, slow moving, obsolete and/or any outdated stock to management, making any necessary recommendations.
  6. Manage the company’s site tools and equipment and maintain proper control over assets ensuring timely follow up with Projects Department.
  7. Interacting with clients, suppliers, and other departments to ensure smooth order fulfilment and customer satisfaction.
  8. Ensure compliance with established internal inventory controls.
  9. Conduct daily walkthroughs of the warehouse and all other storage areas to verify cleanliness, order, security and proper labelling of items.
  10. Supervision of Warehouse personnel, setting team goals, assigning tasks, motivating and monitoring performance, and providing training and coaching.
  11. Managing the daily operations of the warehouse, overseeing the overall flow of goods, including receiving, storage, and issue of stock, ensuring optimal efficiency and proper material handling practices.
  12. Enforcing health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe work environment, and ensuring compliance with safety policy and OSHA.
  13. Managing warehouse costs and ensuring that financial objectives and other KPIs are met.
  14. Ensuring the proper maintenance and functionality of all warehouse equipment, including machinery and tools.
  15. Maintain an up-to-date filing system in relation to your duties and responsibilities.
  16. Perform any other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associates Degree in Logistics/Inventory Management, supply chain or similar from an accredited academic institution.
  • Five (5) CXC O’ Level Passes including Mathematics and English.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience working in inventory control.
  • Forklift Driver’s License.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training in a similar capacity.

  • Inventory Management Experience: Familiarity with inventory management and control systems and processes and Purchasing procedures and techniques including a working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Leadership: Excellent leadership skills, including the abilities to set goals, develop and motivate staff, manage conflict, and build strong working relationships.
  • Integrity: Displays honesty, and credibility in relationships and work situations, consistent with the Corporation’s values and principles e.g. sets good example, ethical conduct
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze inventory data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in inventory records and transactions.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Identifying and resolving inventory discrepancies and issues.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Collaborating with customers and various departments and effectively communicating inventory information verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Computer Software: Experience with inventory management and other software and systems including MS Word, Excel and other relevant MS Office programs.
  • Customer and Personal Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Time Management:  Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Physical: Physical strength, stamina and the ability to walk or stand for long periods of time
