Human Resource Officer 1



Job Title: Human Resource Officer I Salary: $10,000.00 (Negotiable)
Employment Type: Contract – Renewable
Location: San Fernando

Job Purpose: The Human Resource Officer 1 will support the Human Resources Department in the delivery of Human Resource Management plans and programs that build the capacity and capability of the workforce to meet client needs.

Accountabilities:

  1. Integrate core values and accountability throughout all organizational and business practices.

  2. Implement the HR strategy.

  3. Maintain mutually beneficial relationships within the organization.

  4. Interpret HR policies and procedures for organizational stakeholders.

Role-Specific Key Performance Indicators / Key Metrics:
  1. Maintain the quantity and quality of the talent pool; track contract statuses.

  2. Ensure timely selection and placement of personnel.

  3. Timely administration of the Performance Management and Evaluation System (PMES).

  4. Support employee participation in learning and development programs.

  5. Ensure proper administration of employment contracts.

Summary Decision Rights:
  • Responsible for onboarding and training delivery.

Role-Specific Work Processes and Standards:
  1. Assist the HR Management Team in developing the Strategic Human Resource Management Plan (SHRMP).

  2. Actively engage in stakeholder management with non-administrative employees.

  3. Conduct recruitment and selection activities, including hiring, retention, and onboarding.

  4. Assist departmental managers with the interpretation and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

  5. Prepare reports for the HR Leadership Team on workforce-related metrics and any other matters as requested.

  6. Conduct periodic audits to ensure employee compliance with company policies and regulations.

  7. Execute and support HR programs related to compensation, benefits, leave, performance, talent management, employee engagement, occupational health and safety, and training.

  8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records in departmental databases for areas such as training and competency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Human Resources Leadership Team in undertaking ad-hoc projects and supervise Human Resource Assistants.

  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings and investigations. Arrange relevant training to address identified development gaps.

  • Ensure compliance with national employment laws, regulations, and best practices. Review policies to ensure ongoing compliance.

  • Review and contribute to client contract amendments related to HR policies and procedures.

  • Draft and prepare employment contracts aligned with client contracts and organizational HR policies.

  • Ensure proper implementation of employee separation policies and procedures.

  • Perform other related duties as required from time to time.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business, Social Sciences, or a related field.

  • HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or PHR is considered an asset.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in human resource management.
