The HSE Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting the Group HSE Manager by directly supervising the team of HSE Officers.
Key Responsibilities:
Policy & Procedure Implementation:
Ensure the consistent and uniform rollout and application of all ABIL HSE policies, procedures, and standards across all operational sites and departments.
Assist in the creation and tailoring of specific HSE checklists for various departments and operational areas.
Facilitate the effective implementation of key HSE Management system requirements.
Supervise, mentor, and lead the team of HSE Officers, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Manage HSE Officer scheduling, including effective allocation of resources for overtime, weekend assignments, and leave.
Oversee the strategic rotation of HSE Officers across different plants and sites, to ensure consistent attention where needed.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development to HSE Officers.
Oversee day-to-day operational HSE activities, ensuring proactive identification and mitigation of hazards.
Provide hands-on support and guidance to HSE Officers in their daily duties, problem-solving, and compliance efforts.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
Play a key role in managing and overseeing incident and near-miss investigations conducted by HSE Officers, ensuring thorough root cause analysis.
Verify the timely implementation of corrective and preventative actions identified from investigations.
Assist in the preparation of incident reports and data analysis for the Group HSE Manager.
Act as a critical liaison between HSE Officers, departmental managers, and the Group HSE Manager, ensuring seamless communication and resolution of HSE issues.
Facilitate inter-departmental cooperation on HSE matters to close communication gaps and ensure prompt action.
Identify training needs for HSE Officers and other employees, supporting the development and delivery of relevant HSSE training programs.
Actively contribute to the proactive identification of opportunities for continuous improvement in HSE performance and the overall HSMS.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and assist in analysing trends to drive data-driven improvements.

Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related technical field.
NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent recognized advanced HSSE qualification) is highly preferred. NEBOSH General Certificate is a minimum requirement.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Health, Safety, and Environment roles, with at least 2-3 years in a direct supervisory or leadership capacity over a team of HSE professionals.
Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing, heavy industrial, or large-scale distribution/logistics environment is highly advantageous.
Strong understanding of local (Trinidad & Tobago) and international HSE legislation and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
Skills & Competencies:
Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with a proven track record of motivating and developing staff.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for incident investigation and risk assessment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and present complex information clearly.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HSSE management software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a broader team.
Proactive, results-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement in HSSE performance.
