The Opportunity

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for ensuring our operations are aligned with our strategic business goals and mission. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the COO will lead across multiple functional areas including Marketing, Credit, Banking and Customer Operations, IT, and Strategy Management.  The incumbent has oversight responsibility for the integration and operationalization of strategic plans across all JN Group companies, smooth functioning of all business units by implementing strategies to improve efficiency and productivity, managing and optimizing company resources, collaborating with other executives to align operational goals with overall business strategy, assess performance against corporate  indicators (KPIs) and  recommend emergent measures to achieve the desired projections, scaling the operations to meet the evolving needs of our business as well as leading the successful execution of special projects.

The role is a rich, multi-faceted combination of management, strategy and hands-on commercial responsibility which will see you challenged and rewarded. Will have overall responsibility for design and implementation of the JN Group and subsidiaries Target Operating models

 

The accountabilities

 

1.      Collaborate with the CEO in setting and driving organizational vision, and operations strategy.

 

2.      Translate strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning

 

3.      Oversee assigned Group operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive and that organizational goals are met

 

4.      Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, and recommend appropriate action when necessary

5.     Support and or lead key JN Group transformation programmes eg. Braveheart and Enterprise Design Authority.

 

6.      Provide recommendations for the target enterprise architecture model introducing international best practice and world class practices and solutions.

 

7.      Monitor progress of strategic initiatives, providing regular updates to leadership on key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational outcomes.

 

8.        Responsible for the transformation of the Group’s operating model in line with the objectives of the Group’s strategic mission and for providing dynamic leadership and support to programme directors and business leaders.

 

  1. Define (support the development of) end to end business process models
  2. Translate the business models into clear data architecture models
  3. Deliver target operating models with balanced technical vs operational matrices with reference to, and evaluation of:
    1. Current operating models and capabilities
    2. Existing group-wide technology estate
  4. Evaluate current execution capabilities vs “Go-To” target state to support critical architectural and operating model decisioning.
  5. Develop a Digital Strategy for the Group operations  leveraging A1 technology to drive operational efficiency and solve organisational problems.

The Person

 

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A commercially focused, strategic thinker who can create strategic alliances within and outside the JN Group with mutual benefits for members companies in the JN Group.
    • An outstanding high achiever, with a proven track record of improving business performance.
    • Entrepreneurial, with an excellent understanding of the risk/reward relationship and the ability to leverage knowledge of industry trends and regulatory frameworks to assess and anticipate members’ needs.

 

  • Adept with building and motivating high-performing teams, with first class customer service delivery ingrained in the company culture.

 

  • Detailed knowledge and operational experience in major banking operations

 

  • Experience or working in multi cultural international environments.

 

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of an MBA or post graduate degree in management, business administration or a related field

 

  • Specialized training in productivity analysis and process improvement.

 

  •  10 years of progressive experience in executive leadership roles, with at least 5 years of experience as a COO or in a similar capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial services to include commercial banking, business transformation, reengineering and organization design, business function integration.

 

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

 

  • Proven experience in overseeing and managing diverse functional areas, such as strategy management, operations, business advisory, project management.

 

  • Track record of successfully developing and implementing strategic plans and initiatives that have resulted in increased profitability and business growth.

 

  • Extensive experience in optimizing operational processes and implementing performance metrics to drive efficiency and productivity.

 

  • Experience leveraging and embedding AI  capabilities to enhance business solutions for productivity optimization and a competitive advantage

 

  • Experience in managing large-scale projects and driving organizational change initiatives, resulting in improved operational effectiveness.

 

  • Strong financial acumen with a track record of effectively managing budgets, forecasting financial performance, and making data-driven decisions.
  • Experience in developing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders, including board.

 

  • A change mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
    • Strong analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making.

 

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple initiatives simultaneously

 

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment while maintaining focus on quality and member outcomes.
