Senior Policy and Research Analyst

The FSC has an immediate opening for the position of Senior Policy and Research Analyst (Fixed Term Contract).
Position Summary:
The Senior Analyst, Research & Policy, is responsible for coordinating the policy development programme across all Divisions of the FSC to facilitate the progressive and continuous evaluation, revision and strengthening of the regulatory framework of the Commission. The Job Holder conducts the policy development function, consults closely with various stakeholders, and performs quantitative and statistical analyses of industry data from both a macro and micro perspective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct or identify existing research to inform and provide policy, planning and advice.
- Coordinate collection and analysis of industry stakeholders’ feedback on proposed legislative changes.
- Provide technical assistance in the preparation of bulletins and guidelines.
- Monitor international regulatory developments and make recommendations for improving the FSC’s regulatory framework
- Design and execute macroeconomic and other research initiatives.
- Coordinate the production of the FSC’s Annual Reports and select Quarterly Reports.
- Collaborate with relevant FSC Divisions to make contributions to the FSC’s website in order to give the industry easy access to industry and regulatory data.
- Research and analyze current and emerging macroeconomic issues relevant to the regulated industries to guide FSC to develop early and appropriate regulatory responses.
- Assist in the preparation of publications outlining the FSC’s position on policy issues
- Oversee the development of relationships with local and international institutions such as FTC, ICAJ, CAIR, IAIS, IOSCO, and COSRA and collaborate with these entities on research issues.
- Participate, as required, in the planning and implementation of regulatory conferences for industry participants.
- Participating in inter-agency working groups to develop and advance national policy objectives.
- Develop an alert system for emerging issues and encourage stakeholders’ use.
- Conduct impact analysis of macroeconomic policies on the industry and its outlook and the requisite policy interventions that may be helpful.
- Oversee the computation and publication of aggregate industry data as per the required schedule.
- Coordinate the preparation of in-depth sectoral reports.
Candidates must possess the required education, knowledge and skills:
- Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science or Business Administration
- Professional certification and or designations such as CFA, FRM, PRM, ASA or FSA.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in a comparable position and business/work environment, preferably in regulatory services, public policy management, central bank or a national policy research and development institution.
