General Manager -  Jamaica

Primary Job Description

 The General Manager is responsible for leading the staff, developing and meeting budgets, and taking overall ownership and accountability of the organization. This includes ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the business by utilizing both physical and financial resources, providing leadership to the team, and strategically planning for all functional areas. Additionally, the General Manager monitors compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements. The role also involves developing new revenue streams, maintaining valuable relationships with private and public sector stakeholders, and driving the organization's continuous expansion and business growth.

 Responsibilities:

 Financial

  • Lead the annual budgeting process in combination with the Accountant, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and operational requirements.
  • Interpret and analyze financial statements to identify areas for cost reduction, margin improvement, and operational efficiency.
  • Take full accountability for the organization’s financial success, including revenue growth, cost control, profitability, and cash flow management.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial forecasting, reporting, and monitoring, enabling effective decision-making and performance management.
  • Actively pursue new revenue opportunities—through tenders, client development, and market expansion—to meet or exceed financial targets.
  • Drive continuous financial improvement through strategic planning, performance evaluation, and disciplined execution.

 Mission and Strategic Planning

  • Create and execute a comprehensive annual business plan that incorporates in-depth market research, sets clear objectives for each department, and outlines detailed financial projections. This plan must drive revenue growth, profitability, operational efficiency, and market expansion.
  • Execute the business plan in conjunction with the approved budget, ensuring initiatives and projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Take full ownership of the organization’s P&L, driving performance to meet or exceed financial targets through disciplined execution, resource alignment, and leadership accountability.
  • Ensure the organization maintains a robust and regularly tested business continuity plan for all mitigating circumstances.

 Governance

  • Provide the Executive Committee with timely, accurate, and relevant monthly management and financial reports, prepared in the agreed format.
  • Meet regularly with the Regional Development Manager to ensure operational alignment with corporate policies and strategic goals.
  • Plan, develop, and implement organizational policies and business objectives.
  • Serve as the strategic liaison between departments and key external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and delivery of organizational priorities.
  • Negotiate with unions and workforce representatives in a manner that supports company objectives while maintaining good industrial relations.
  • Enforce a professional, ethical, and compliant organizational culture by upholding the approved Code of Conduct and holding employees and contractors accountable.

 Management and Administration

  • Ensure that all resource requirements—manpower, financial, and physical—are identified, budgeted, and provisioned to meet operational needs.
  • Drive the effective implementation of systems, processes, technology, and controls to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Take overarching responsibility for achieving the organization’s financial, operational, and strategic goals.
  • Lead and evaluate departmental performance, ensuring effectiveness, accountability, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Review operating results against set targets and take prompt corrective action to address any performance gaps.
  • Promote a customer-first culture by setting clear service standards, monitoring performance, and ensuring alignment with both customer expectations and international best practices.
  • Oversee complaint resolution processes and customer feedback mechanisms, ensuring swift resolution and continuous service improvement.
  • Provide leadership in major organizational decisions, including restructuring and reallocation of responsibilities, functions, or equipment where necessary.
  • Ensure that internal communications are consistent, timely, and aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Ensure performance management systems are in place with clear responsibilities, standards, and performance metrics. Compensation and benefits must remain competitive with industry benchmarks.
  • Reinforce a culture of recognition, discipline, and accountability, applying meaningful awards and corrective action where warranted.
  • Protect and promote the brand at every opportunity, and ensure the company’s CSR efforts are active and aligned with organizational values.
  • Direct investigations and lead negotiations for mergers, joint ventures, acquisitions, or divestments with the approval of the Group Chief Strategy Officer.

 Member and Community Relations

  • Champion all initiatives for achieving and maintaining industry standards, certifications, and quality benchmarks that differentiate the company as a recognized leader in the security landscape.
  • Represent the company with major clients, stakeholders, shareholders, and the broader public to maintain confidence and trust.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned in alignment with organizational priorities.

Legal and Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure that the organization is in compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements for its operations.
  • Take responsibility for Health and Safety implementation in accordance with legal requirements.

 

Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • Master’s Degree (M.A. or M. Sc.) in business administration, strategic management or equivalent discipline.
  • Min. of 5 yrs. related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ASIS International – Certified Protection Professional
  • Valid driver’s permit
  • Valid Passport
  • Defensive Driving Certificate
