OBJECTIVE
To build and maintain NGC's GIS Database, use GIS software to analyse spatial and non-spatial information and provide GIS solutions as required to the NGC Group of Companies and its stakeholders.
The minimum requirements for the position are:
- BSc. Degree in Geomatics Engineering or equivalent
- An Advance Diploma in Geographic Information System or equivalent
- Certificate in Information Systems will be an asset
- Professional membership(s) in GIS/Geomatics
- A minimum of three (3) years working experience in the GIS field
FUNCTIONS
- Evaluates the integrity of existing datasets and its metadata.
- Assists with the development of new GIS datasets and accompanying metadata for the NGC Group of Companies.
- Performs Field Surveys and Site Visits necessary to retrieve accurate data using the appropriate Survey techniques.
- Ensure completeness of the Enterprise GIS database by continuous input of all spatial and non-spatial data using the appropriate tools and procedures.
- Consolidates, edits, retrieves, analyses, and standardizes data and metadata.
- Performs routine Geodatabase validation, compression, and review to prevent Enterprise GIS database corruption.
- Author, maintain and publish GIS services, packages, web maps and applications that will be available to web users.
- Plan, administer and configure the organization's GIS home page, member roles, groups, and access to GIS resources.
- Design, develop, and maintain GIS mobile applications field to office services as requested by the NGC Group of Companies.
- Assist with all GIS upgrades and system maintenance (APDM, Oracle/SQL, ESRI) as required to ensure an updated and relevant enterprise system architecture capable of meeting the needs of the organization.
- Compile and integrate multiple data types from various sources e.g. aerial photography, satellite imagery, LiDAR data and GNSS data for spatial and temporal analysis and modelling..
- Utilise various mapping software and cartographic principles to accurately create and modify digital and traditional maps as requested by internal and external customers.
- Ensure GIS maps showing proposed or existing project parameters are accurate and up-to-date during project's life cycle. This includes on-site field reconnaissance.
- Participate in field and desktop feasibility studies with NGC's internal and/or external customers to ascertain the optimum locations of proposed gas line routes and/ or facility sites.
- Generate and archive Prelay and Postlay Alignment sheet reports.
- Utilise the full suite of GIS tools to develop new line routes, update existing line routes as well as to perform Spatial Analysis and 3D modelling where required.
- Conduct presentations and trainings to assist and train customers on the capabilities and utilization of GIS as it relates to their role in the organization and group of companies.
- Liaises with external agencies to acquire/ share information regarding maps, leases, etc. for land and offshore.
- Develop and maintain a spatial data infrastructure through formalized partnerships with government agencies and utility companies.
- Conduct Field and Office QA/QC on all spatial and attribute data deliverables from in-house and external sources.
- Prepare s comprehensive written responses in the form of letters, memos or e-mails on work received and completed.
- Verifies all invoices submitted by Contractors and Consultants.
- Prepares weekly/monthly reports on Project or work being undertaken.
- Evaluates contractual documents and prepares detail reports on contractor obligations and performance.

- Performs any other related duties as delegated by the Supervisor of the sect ion.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Knowledge of:
- Extensive knowledge and experience with industry standard mapping tools, especially ESRI and Autodesk products
- Experience in database management systems, data processing and analysis
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of NGC's Pipeline Network.
- Knowledge of Trimble GPS/GNSS Equipment and Post-Processing Tools and Software.
