JOB SUMMARY The Fabric Maintenance Foreman is responsible for assisting in the production activities of the worksite to ensure achievement of production targets and objectives.

JOB SUMMARY

The Fabric Maintenance Foreman is responsible for assisting in the production activities of the worksite to ensure achievement of production targets and objectives in the most efficient and cost effective manner, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), required safety and quality standards, budgets codes, specifications and schedules.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure that all abrasive blasting materials, paint containers, paint materials and other chemicals are stored, handled and disposed of according to the painting procedure and manufacturer’s recommendations.
  2. Monitor and inspect work to ensure that completion is in accordance with schedules, specifications, budgets, and safety and quality standards.
  3. Conduct visual inspections together with the Blasters and Painters while work is in progress to ensure that surface preparation and coating applications meet quality standards.
  4. Determine the appropriate method for surface preparation and paint application according to the painting procedure, manufacturer’s and client specifications.
  5. Review and sign-off all blasting and painting equipment check-list daily.
  6. Ensure that paint materials being used have not exceeded the shelf life as per PDS and labels on paint cans.
  7. Conduct inspections together with the Coating Inspector at specified hold points stated in the ITP and painting procedure to ensure that the finished product meets the industry standards and Client specifications.
  8. Ensure that all abrasive blasting materials, paint containers, paint materials and other chemicals are stored, handled and disposed of according to the painting procedure and manufacturer’s recommendations.

KEY COMPETENCIES / REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

  1. Demonstrated superior knowledge of industrial paint application, abrasive blasting and insulation.
  2. Ability to read and understand technical manuals (MSDS, PDS).
  3. Working knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other applicable programmes.
  4. Problem Solving and Analysis.
  5. Effective communication skills (verbal, non-verbal and written).  Ability to read, understand and where applicable write words and sentences in work related documents; as well as ability to effectively communicate verbally and non-verbally (e.g. body language, active listening) with Supervisor, peers, other work teams and Clients.
  6. Leadership skills

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated competence and/or competencies normally acquired over a minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar position with at least one (1) in a leadership capacity.
  • Formal training and/or certification from a NACE Level 3 Inspector in Industrial Paint application and Abrasive Blasting practices.
  • Certification in Supervision from an accredited training institution / programme recognized by the Company.
  • Accreditation as accepted by the Company in Basic Rigging and other supporting skills as required will be an asset.
