About the Role

NES Fircroft is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting Operations, Projects, Upstream, Asset Maintenance, Subsea and Estimating functions. This pivotal role oversees the quality, technical integrity, and delivery of engineering outputs including drawings, calculations, design models, engineered lift plans, and bid support. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, technical depth, and a dedication to continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Business Leadership

  • Contribute to the development of departmental and corporate strategic plans.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align engineering goals with wider organizational objectives.
  • Establish and monitor department KPIs, driving performance and efficiency.

Engineering Oversight & Technical Execution

  • Lead the engineering design function ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Approve technical drawings, specifications, and engineered plans.
  • Partner with Estimating to support bid preparation and evaluate technical requirements.
  • Provide expert guidance on structural design, tank construction, rigging plans, and related engineering deliverables.
  • Support field operations by resolving engineering-related queries and issues.
  • Develop and review engineered crane lift plans and associated layouts.
  • Oversee the creation, implementation and enhancement of engineering policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Approve design changes and ensure adherence to construction and repair methodologies.

Project & Operational Management

  • Collaborate with project and senior managers to establish short- and long-term departmental objectives.
  • Track progress across engineering projects and intervene to address schedule, quality, or technical deviations.
  • Enhance and mature the company’s engineering framework to improve consistency and project outcomes.
  • Participate in talent selection and oversee staffing plans for the engineering, drafting, and rigging teams.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of internal engineering services and external engineering contractors.
  • Ensure delivery quality, accuracy, and compliance across all engineering outputs.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong engineering expertise across mechanical, structural, fabrication, lifting, rigging and industrial plant operations.
  • Excellent negotiation, coaching, financial and business acumen.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and industry-standard drafting/design tools.
  • Thorough understanding of OSH legislation, HSSE requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Deep knowledge of quality management, mechanical construction, and maintenance standards.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Certification from the Board of Engineering of Trinidad & Tobago.
  • Project Management Certification.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualifications related to engineering or management.
  • Training or certification in leadership or supervisory management.

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in mechanical construction or engineering, preferably in a contracting environment.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or management role overseeing technical professionals.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in brownfield and greenfield oil & gas projects.
