The Destination Marketing Manager leads TTAL’s integrated marketing strategy to build Tobago’s brand, drive visitor arrivals, support new market entry and product launches, and analyze market trends, behaviours, and opportunities.

JOB SUMMARY

The Destination Marketing Manager will be responsible for the overall marketing thrust for the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited (TTAL) and for creating well-thought out, highly integrated marketing plans and public awareness strategies that result in increasing brand awareness of destination Tobago and volume travel to Tobago. The incumbent will be an integral part of any initiative focused on entering new markets or launching new tourism products for Tobago and will study new trends, behaviours and needs of the target and current market.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develops strategic marketing plans and leads execution, including product positioning, insight into appropriate distribution channels required to maximize revenue attainment, market research/competitive analysis, go-to-market sales tools, customer segment selection and penetration plans.
  • Identifies new opportunities for strategic partnerships and events that are brand/equity building, reach new relevant audiences and focus on shifting brand perception.
  • Manages relationships with external agencies and partners, as well as facilitates communication with cross-functional partners.
  • Develops a cohesive and integrated marketing strategy with domestic, regional and international reach.
  • Collaborates with the Communications Department to effectively engage traditional media and content creators in the Tobago space, to showcase events and attractions which will assist in promoting Destination Tobago.
  • Conducts market studies in collaboration with the Research Department, to determine customer requirements, technology trends and innovations, and competitive information.
  • Evaluates TTAL’s Customer Relationship Marketing (CRM) to create an exceptional customer experience.
  • Evaluates the Agency’s brand position and marketing strategies to meet changing market and competitive conditions including analysis of competitive products and market research.
  • Develops and optimizes marketing budgets to meet the strategic needs of the business, deliver new customers and grow the existing customer base.

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Excellent knowledge of social media trends and use of social-media platforms.
  • Excellent managerial skills.
  • Working knowledge of principles of content management systems.
  • Exceptional communication, public-speaking and presentation skills.
  • Excellent customer service and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Tobago at a cultural and geographical level.
  • Excellent understanding of customer and market dynamics in tourism.
  • Excellent in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Manages the performance of the Marketing Team in accordance with the Performance Management Policy.
  • Adheres to the Procurement Policy and procedures where they are applicable.
  • Follows the Health and Safety Policy and procedures at the Agency.
  • From time to time, performs other job-related tasks assigned, beside those set out in the Job Description.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • A Master’s Degree in Marketing, Tourism Marketing or related field.
  • Eight (8) years experience.
  • No less than three (3) years managing a team.
  • Certification as a social media or Google partner would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with global tourism and hospitality industry would be an asset.
  • Proven success in brand management would be an asset.
