Mission
A nation-wide Charitable Organization is dedicated to the prevention and alleviation of pain and suffering from cancer, by public education, the promotion of early detection, the hosting of clinics and prompt treatment and the provision of patient care, support services and sincere counselling and support.
Basic Purpose
The Charity seeks a highly self-motivated professional to work collaboratively with the President and advisory body, and manage its daily activities, in all areas of its work, operations, and administration planning. The Administrative Director is required to provide leadership, interact with, direct, and assist Staff in the interpretation and efficient performance of their jobs.

Education and Experience Required
- Post-secondary education – university degree or equivalent qualification.
- Background in financial management, administration, public affairs, public relations and computer applications.
- Thorough understanding and experience in marketing, human resources, planning and organizational development.
- Experience in working with charitable organizations and volunteer boards.
- Understanding of advocacy, fund development, health promotion.
Summary of Duties and responsibilities
- Provide leadership in the management and accountability of the organization in accordance with its Constitution, by-laws, policies and procedures including the preparation of various plans including business, Strategic and operating plans.
- Ensure that the charitable status of the organization is upheld in accordance with the Charities Act, Business Barbados and the policies of the organization.
- Represent the best interests of the organization in all its relationships.
- Provide appropriate assistance and support to the organization’s advisory body to hold meetings, including an Annual Meeting, and to provide reports as requested.
- Develop an annual budget that supports the operating and business plan.
- Ensure effective management and control of the approved plans and budget.
- Assisting with the accounts of the Charity and liaising with the accountants and auditors on a frequent basis as it relates to the Charity’s expenses including salaries and utilities and the payment of National Insurance, and also to assist with the preparation of budgets.
- Ensure that adequate staff resources are employed, guided, trained, and effectively deployed in such a manner as to provide optimum efficiencies in meeting the operational requirements of the organization.
- Understand the present Policies and Procedures for staff, and further develop, implement and maintain human resource policies and procedures for all staff.
- Develop, implement, and maintain partnerships with the Government of Barbados, corporate Barbados, overseas donor organizations, philanthropists, other organizations or sponsors, and other such organizations, to foster organizational growth, services, and objectives of the organization.
- Commit to learning about all aspects of cancer relevant to the organization’s Mission.
- Construct media releases, plan marketing, conduct respond to interviews and develop a strong positive PR presence for the organization.
- Act as Company Secretary in respect of corporate matters, registration requirements, licenses, contacts, obligations, etc.
- Assume other duties that may be assigned by the organization, including the possibility of travel and training in the post.
