Accountant- Guardian Media Limited

The Accountant is responsible for the monthly and quarterly financial reporting submissions and the financial integrity of the General Ledger of Guardian Media Limited, producing error-free accounting reports and present their results.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the company’s monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements ensuring adherence to Group and International Financial Reporting Standards.
• Direct and complete the internal and external audit process by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts, providing information for auditors to ensure compliance.
• Ensure the management of customer credit facilities in accordance with approved policies and risk guidelines.
• Execute appropriate strategies to facilitate the collection of monies, mitigating bad debt. 
• Recommend process improvements to strengthen billing, payment receipting, and overall Accounts Receivable workflow.
• Support in the review of Accounts Payables and Accounts Receivable.  
• Assist with the preparation of financial budgets.
• Ensure the integrity of data by reviewing the order entry points of all Front-end Systems.
• Responsible for completion and submission of the corporation tax schedules and annual tax returns as required as well as timely payments of all statutory and business critical payments.
• Timely reconciliation of all subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger balances and resolution of amounts in the clearing and/or suspense accounts.
• Responsible for the reconciling of Balance Sheet accounts monthly, ensuring all relevant journals are prepared, reviewed and data entered on a timely basis.
• Monthly assertion of compliance and any exceptions escalated with urgency and with recommendations for remediation as required.
• Develop and implement an internal management testing of controls (TOCS) and an internal system of reports for evaluation and control of operations.
• Ensure the Credit and Collection policies are consistently aligned with organizational, operational, and commercial requirements.
• Complete quarterly CSO and CBTI reports and all other required Management reports and forecasts with recommendations.
• Maintain and strengthen internal control by ensuring current GAAP and financial standards are reflected in the Company’s accounts and business processes.
• Comply with Group’s processes and policies as set out and stated in ANSA McAL Blue Book.
• Perform all duties in conformance with appropriate health, safety, security and environmental and GML’s policies and procedures.
• Any other related duties, which may be assigned.

Qualifications

• ACCA Level III

Experience

• Five (5) years’ professional accounting experience
• Minimum of three (3) years’ working experience in a similar position
• Experience in audit management and financial reporting
• Experience in software implementations

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

• Ability to meet deadlines on a consistent basis
• Intermediate level of Microsoft Excel, Word and Other Office software
• Ability to work independently to prepare financial statements and in applying accounting practice and theory.
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
