Accounting Manager

Position: Accounting  Manager
Location: Kingston, Jamaica
Employment Type: Full-time

A Kingston-based importer and distributor of food products is seeking a meticulous and competent Accounting Manager to lead its dynamic accounting team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a range of financial and accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness in all financial operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform day-to-day financial transactions including verifying, classifying, and recording accounting data.
  • Prepare and reconcile bank statements to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Review accounts receivable and accounts payable for accuracy and ensure timely payment of invoices.
  • Review customer accounts and limitations.
  • Prepare and submit monthly General Consumption Tax (GCT) and other statutory filings.
  • Preparation of quarterly budgets and periodic financial statements.
  • Maintain and prepare audit schedules as required.
  • Correct, process, and reconcile various accounting documents.
  • Prepare financial reports and summaries as needed by management.
  • Stay updated with and apply changes in accounting guidelines and policies.
  • Payroll.
  • Perform other related accounting duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; ACCA Level 2 or equivalent is acceptable.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an accounting or finance-related role.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and Jamaican tax regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with QuickBooks is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a history of minimal error.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team-oriented environment
