Montego Bay Yacht Club is seeking a new Manager.

Position Summary: Manager of the Montego Bay Yacht Club

The Club and Marina Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational oversight, and financial performance of all Yacht Club and Marina activities. This role ensures a premium member experience, safety and compliance across all facilities, and the efficient management of personnel, programs, amenities, and assets. The Manager acts as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and operational staff, maintaining the club’s reputation for excellence in hospitality, marine services, and social engagement.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Leadership

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of both the yacht club and marina, including dockage, maintenance, food & beverage, events, and administrative functions.
  • Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, safety, and high service standards.
  • Ensure marina operations are in compliance with national, local, and maritime regulations (e.g., environmental protection, safety, and licensing).

2. Staff Management

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department heads and frontline staff across marina, clubhouse, events, food & beverage, and maintenance teams.
  • Create staffing plans and schedules to ensure coverage, efficiency, and service quality.
  • Foster a performance-driven culture with clear expectations, accountability, and recognition.

3. Member and Guest Services

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for members and slip holders regarding services, concerns, and club/marina activities.
  • Ensure prompt, professional handling of all member and guest inquiries, feedback, and complaints.
  • Oversee coordination and execution of club events, regattas, and social programming.

4. Financial Management

  • Prepare and manage the annual operating and capital budgets for the club and marina.
  • Monitor financial performance, control costs, and optimize revenue streams including slip rentals, fuel sales, dining services, and memberships.
  • Work with accounting to ensure timely billing, collections, and financial reporting.

5. Facility and Asset Management

  • Oversee maintenance and upkeep of marina infrastructure, docks, club buildings, landscaping, and utilities.
  • Implement preventative maintenance programs and capital improvement plans.
  • Ensure security and risk management protocols are in place and functioning effectively.

6. Strategic Planning and Reporting

  • Develop and implement operational and marketing plans aligned with the Board’s strategic goals.
  • Report regularly to the Commodore and Board on KPIs, member satisfaction, staff performance, financials, and capital projects.
  • Maintain vendor and contractor relationships and evaluate outsourcing opportunities where appropriate.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Marine Operations, JDF Coast Guard or related field (required).
  • Certifications in marina operations (e.g., Certified Marina Manager - CMM) are preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of senior management experience in marina operations, club management, or resort/hospitality leadership.
  • Proven experience managing large teams, financial budgets, and capital projects.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a customer-centric approach.
  • In-depth knowledge of marina operations, boating regulations, and club governance.
  • Proficient in budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in marina management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure or emergency situations.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during events or peak season.
  • Must be able to walk the docks, lift up to 30 lbs., and work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license; boating license preferred.
