Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Infrastructure & Technical Services team in the capacity of:

 

 

 

Workstation Administrator

 

 

 

Provide direct and indirect technical support to end users in facilitating the proper installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.

 

Provide technical support for the network and system administrators in respect of IT Systems of the organisation, subsidiary companies and companies supported by the Sagicor Group.

 

Location: Kingston

 

As a Workstation Administrator, you will:

 

  • Review the operation, performance and functionality of the Group’s core customer-facing applications, with a view to effect remedial response.
  • Provide leadership in accordance to established policies and procedures, to the Group’s internal and external customer queries and complaints relating to System functionality.
  • Recommend business optimizations and amendments geared towards improvements in application systems providing the Group’s array of services.
  • Oversee the management of user account profiles on various systems.
  • Manage the documentation of Incident Reports, including outlining the incident details and recurrence preventative measures.
  • Collaborate as partners to provide Systems Engineering Services.
  • Facilitate the implementation of new or customized business system functions.
  • Assess the results of test scripts for implementation into the production environment.
  • Assist with the design, implementation, and management of server operating system infrastructure (UNIX, Windows, etc.).
  • Recommend the implementation of security-oriented rules to ensure protection of equipment and data.
  • Manage equipment maintenance to prevent or identify causes of problems.
  • Identify and recommend equipment required to upgrade the computer systems.
  • Manage Operating System Security infrastructure in relation to core applications.
  • Recommend business optimizations and amendments geared towards improvements in application systems providing the Group’s array of services.
  • Research new technologies and provide comparative analysis and recommendations to facilitate informed choices in the purchase of services, hardware and software for business optimization.
  • Collaborate in the designing, implementing and managing storage services (SAN, NAS, Centralized Backup and ILM).
  • Assist in managing server-based network services (Windows Domain, Email, DHCP, DNS, etc.).
  • Assist with managing and maintaining current storage service infrastructure by reviewing available statistics.
  • Assist in envisioning, designing, and implementing future upgrades to storage service infrastructure.
  • Prepare Change Management documentations for implementing patches and upgrades.
  • Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.

 

What do you need?

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ work experience supporting networked workstations and PC applications, including experience with wide area networks, and Windows and UNIX administration, and supervisory experience.
  • Experience in working with Credit and Debit Cards Payment packages is an asset.
  • Project Management experience is an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Sound knowledge of distributed computing environment concepts and principles of routing and client/server operations.
  • Sound knowledge of the hardware, software, application and integration of the PC environment, applications, connectivity and peripheral equipment.
  • Sound knowledge of the process for the installation, configuration and maintenance of application software for multi-user computer systems.
  • Functional knowledge of electronic transaction processing especially Point of Sale Devices, Automated Banking Machines.
  • Sound knowledge of processes such as input and output files, application threading related to End of Day operations.
  • Ability to effectively assess, prioritize and execute tasks in a customer-centric always-available environment.
  • Strong management skills.
  • Effective problem resolution and processes automation skills.
  • Sound human relations and customer service skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
