Workshop Supervisor

A leading distributor of machine lubricants and heavy duty industrial equipment, serving various sectors including mining, construction, agriculture, and transportation is seeking a Workshop Supervisor.

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Supervise the operations of the General Area of the workshop, ensuring compliance with established standards, policies, and procedures.  Deliver high-quality repair services that meet customer expectations while ensuring efficient and responsible use of company resources

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedule and supervise daily activities of workshop technicians assigned to the General Area, ensuring work meets required time and quality standards
  • Participate in the preparation of repair budgets in collaboration with the Budget Supervisor to ensure accuracy prior to client submission
  • Analyze technical and logistical issues affecting turnaround time or quality and implement solutions to optimize results
  • Supervise the proper use, care, and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment, ensuring safety and pollution control standards are met
  • Monitor and control the use of materials and company resources to prevent waste
  • Inspect completed work orders prior to billing to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality (QA/QC)
  • Supervise work performed by service contractors to ensure compliance with service agreements
  • Ensure corrective actions are implemented following rework (Re-Do) to support continuous quality improvement
  • Maintain effective communication with customers regarding service orders requiring technical clarification or intervention
  • Keep the Service Representative informed of repair progress and escalate customer communication when technical authority is required
  • Review daily technician reports and time cards to ensure accurate time charging to work orders
  • Assign technicians to jobs based on skill level and workload requirements to meet operational targets
  • Establish performance metrics for direct reports, conduct evaluations, provide feedback, and implement improvement plans where necessary
  • Ensure continuous compliance with company policies, procedures, safety standards, and Code of Ethics
  • Promote a positive, high-performance work culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
  • Identify training and development needs and coordinate competency-building initiatives for technicians
  • Promote safe work practices and provide ongoing coaching to maximize employee performance

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong technical knowledge of workshop operations and repair processes
  • Proven supervisory and team leadership experience
  • Strong planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to quality, safety, and compliance standards
  • Effective communication and customer management skills
  • Ability to analyze operational data and make sound decisions under pressure
