Main Purpose of Job
The Digital Design Webmaster is responsible for the planning, maintenance, and accessibility of the business school's website and mobile app content to ensure that it serves as an effective resource for students, faculty, staff, and external audiences. This role involves maintaining content accuracy, accessibility compliance, and seamless functionality across academic departments, admissions, events, and research portals. The Webmaster collaborates with the organization's stakeholders to align the website with institutional branding and strategic goals.
They ensure that all digital platforms align with the institution's goals and objectives while delivering a consistent look and feel. The Webmaster will create original designs and content, manage website performance, and ensure optimal reliability and security, incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) best practices to enhance user experience and lead generation.
Main Responsibilities
- Monitor new standards, technologies, and trends in web development, design, and AI applications.
- Recommend and purchase web authoring and publishing tools as necessary.
- Create and maintain a consistent website structure, ensuring uniformity in fonts, formatting, and layout.
- Diagnose and fix website issues, including broken links and formatting inconsistencies.
- Ensure website security to protect user data and privacy.
- Maintain a reference archive of website templates, images, and previous versions.
- Participate in the integration of graphical and multimedia components into the website.
- Develop a long-term plan for website development and presence, incorporating standards and guidelines based on business goals and stakeholder input.
- Work with various departments and content creators to ensure platforms are visually appealing and functional.
- Implement AI tools for content personalization, chatbots for user assistance, and data analysis to improve user engagement and streamline website management.
- Collaborate with IT and systems experts on hardware and software issues affecting website availability.
- Evaluate and itemize costs for website enhancements and modifications.
- Implement regular maintenance policies, including content change requests and update schedules, to ensure site accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop and enforce appropriate use and privacy policies for the website, ensuring compliance with AI-related ethical standards.
- Address website issues and requests from users in a timely manner.
- Maintain website, subdomains and microsites
- Ensure CMS is up to date
- Implement responsive design for optimal usage on all devices
- Troubleshoot technical issues e.g. Broken links, form errors, database connectivity, content strategy and governance
- Enforce University branding, style guides and consistency
- Audit and Archive outdated content, expired event pages, retired or resigned faculty
- Collaborate with Academic, Admissions, Recruitment, Marketing and Registration to prioritize key content and deadlines
- Ensure compliance with user experience and analytics through the use of google analytics or heatmap
- Optimize navigation, search optimization and landing pages for students.
- Report on Traffic trends, performance and campaign performance
- Manage SSL certification, firewalls and security patches
- Oversee integration with student portals i.e. Payment portals and banner
- Implement systems to mitigate against cyber threats.
- Analyze competing websites for content, design, and functionality, providing recommendations for enhancements.
- Engage in IT project planning and implementations as required.
- Identify and manage lead generation tactics, such as optimized landing pages, forms, and targeted content strategies to capture prospective students and partners.
- Oversee the acquisition and ongoing maintenance of domain names, IPs, and hosting platforms.
- Recommend and purchase web authoring and publishing tools as necessary.
- Create and maintain a consistent website structure, ensuring uniformity in fonts, formatting, and layout.
- Identify and manage website presence and promotional opportunities, such as search engine registration.
- Maintain a reference archive of website templates, images, and previous versions.
- Participate in the integration of graphical and multimedia components into the website.
- Set and enforce standards for site accessibility for users with disabilities and those using older browser versions or low-speed connections.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on website traffic, leveraging AI tools to gain insights into user behavior.
- Create and maintain a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document for users.

Skills and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of web technologies, protocols, and tools, including HTML/XHTML, JavaScript, CSS, PHP, jQuery, Python, and Ruby on Rails.
- Proficient in using web authoring, development, and publishing tools.
- Strong skills in SEO and experience in e-commerce site development.
- Solid understanding of communications, marketing, and customer service principles.
- Familiarity with basic project management concepts and experience in collaborative environments.
Formal Education (Minimum required for position)
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Marketing, or a related field.
- Basic Certification in MS Office Suite and Design Software (Illustrator/CS, Photoshop/CS, InDesign)
- Knowledge of Flash, Dream Weaver HTML will be an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a webmaster or digital design role.
