Web Developer & Designer

The Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) is seeking a qualified, dynamic, and results-oriented professional to fill the position of Web Developer & Designer.

Job Purpose

Under the general supervision of the Database Analyst & Senior Programmer, the Web Developer & Designer is responsible for the design, development, configuration, maintenance, performance and continuous improvement of JSIF’s websites and related applications. The role supports the delivery of responsive, secure and user-friendly digital solutions, while also contributing to multimedia and graphic design requirements to support organizational communication and promotion.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to:

• Design, develop, test, implement and maintain websites and web-enabled applications
• Develop and improve mobile applications as required
• Monitor and enhance website accessibility, functionality, performance and end-user experience
• Remediate security vulnerabilities in web-based applications
• Develop and maintain reusable, maintainable and efficient code
• Design and implement database objects to support website and application functionality
• Support and maintain JSIF’s intranet and content management systems (CMS)
• Validate and update website content to ensure accuracy and currency
• Prepare and safeguard user and system documentation
• Provide technical support to users for websites and content management systems
• Assist with staff training and user acceptance testing
• Collaborate in the development of multimedia products, annual reports, brochures, banners and other graphic materials
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding web-related requirements and solutions
• Provide Help Desk support when required
• Perform other related duties assigned within the scope of the position

Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline
• Certification in Website/Graphic Design and Development
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Website Development and Graphic Design
• Experience in mobile application development

Skills & Competencies

The ideal candidate should demonstrate:

• Significant working knowledge of website and web application programming using C#.NET, Python, Flask, React, HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, AJAX, Bootstrap and Material UI
• Working Knowledge of SOAP, Swagger, RESTful APIs,
• Working knowledge of MVC and Entity Frameworks and .NET Framework
• Knowledge of database programming using MS SQL, Transact SQL, MySQL and PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with Content Management Systems such as Drupal and protocols including SSH, FTP and Telnet
• Strong understanding of modern UI/UX trends and techniques
• Knowledge of open-source website hosting platforms and tools
• Proficiency in multimedia and graphic manipulation tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Premiere Pro
• Working knowledge of Power Platform Tools.
• Experience with Docker, Vue, Angular, and Spring boot an asset
• Strong Search Engine Optimization (SEO) skills
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and project management skills
