Job Overview
The Warehouse Receiver is responsible for the accurate and timely receipt of all containers, deliveries, and goods entering the central warehouse. This role ensures that all incoming items are verified against approved purchase orders, documented accurately, and recorded in the inventory system. The position also requires close coordination with the Purchasing and Procurement teams to report container arrivals, seal conditions, discrepancies, and any issues affecting delivery or product quality.
The role demands a high level of organisation, attention to detail, and strong communication skills,
along with the physical capability to handle goods and operate warehouse equipment safely and
efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving & Verification
- Receive all containers, shipments, and deliveries arriving at the central warehouse or project sites.
- Notify the Purchasing team immediately upon a container’s arrival, including reporting container condition and seal status.
- Verify all goods received against approved purchase orders.
- Inspect items for correct quantity, quality, and condition.
- Record expiry dates for perishable goods upon receiving.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of invoices sent and received.
- Prepare container costing reports, including the distribution of tariffs.
- Complete short-ship reports for invoiced but undelivered items.
- Complete damage reports for any defective or compromised goods received.
- Produce daily receiving reports for all shipments processed.
- Ensure all required documentation is properly filed and communicated to relevant departments.
Inventory Management
· Update the system by posting invoices and adjusting quantities.
· Hand over fully checked containers and documentation to the Storekeeper.
Operational Support
· Assist in the storeroom during periods of low receiving activity.
· Operate company-owned and leased trucks for the movement of goods.
· Collaborate with the Procurement team to resolve shipping or product issues.
Compliance & Safety
· Adhere to all company safety regulations and warehouse protocols.
· Ensure accurate data entry at all times.
· Operate warehouse machinery (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.) safely and in line with training and certification requirements.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
· Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
· High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic inventory systems.
· Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).
· Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
· Ability to troubleshoot delivery issues and work with Procurement to resolve discrepancies.
· Physically capable of bending, lifting heavy boxes (50 or more lbs.), and operating warehouse equipment.
· A valid driver’s licence (required).
· Forklift certification (an advantage).
Education
· High School Diploma (required).
· College-level studies in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
