Job Title: Trade Market Lead

Reports to: Marketing Manager
Employment Type: Contract

Job Summary:

The Trade Market Lead is responsible for developing and executing trade marketing initiatives that strengthen retail partnerships, optimize product visibility, and drive in-store sales performance. This role serves as a critical link between the marketing, sales, and supply chain teams, ensuring alignment between brand strategy and retail execution. The Trade Market Lead will actively manage and oversee field operations, negotiate retail opportunities, and drive customer engagement through impactful in-store activations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Retail Negotiations & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with store managers and key retail partners.
  • Negotiate for premium shelf space, enhanced promotional exposure, and favorable commercial terms.
  • Proactively secure prime in-store positioning to increase product visibility and drive consumer purchases.

2. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Align retail marketing activities with broader sales and brand marketing objectives.
  • Partner closely with marketing and sales teams to coordinate seamless execution of trade promotions and brand activations.
  • Gather field feedback and insights to recommend improvements to ongoing campaigns.

3. Sales Performance & Inventory Optimization

  • Monitor and analyze retail sales performance, category trends, and shopper behaviors.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sell-through and maximize retail profitability.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and account managers to maintain healthy inventory levels and minimize out-of-stock risks.

4. Event Planning, Execution & Evaluation

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute in-store events, brand activations, and trade promotions.
  • Ensure the effective deployment of merchandising tools, point-of-sale materials, and promotional displays.
  • Track and report on the effectiveness of trade marketing activities, providing insights to enhance future initiatives.

5. Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Conduct regular market visits to monitor retail execution and competitor activity.
  • Compile and present reports on store performance, promotional impact, and customer feedback.
  • Provide actionable recommendations to drive brand growth within the retail space.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in trade marketing, retail sales
  • Proven negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills.
  • Must own or operate a reliable motor vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel to various retail locations.
