Our client in the Financial Sector in Port of Spain is seeking a Temporary Accounting Clerk.
Employment Type: Temporary - 3 months
Working Hours: Mon to Fri
Location: Port of Spain
Work Arrangement: In-office
Assistance in maintaining an accurate General Ledger:
• Apply appropriate accounting policies and procedures ensuring accurate financial transaction recording.
• Perform control procedures relating to the general ledger including bank reconciliations, sub-ledger reconciliations (loans, investments, fixed deposits), and maintenance of fixed asset register.
• Evaluate accounting treatment for routine transactions.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests.
• Accounts Payable – ensure supplier invoices are recorded and settled within required timelines, with accruals booked in the respective period.
• Prepare analyses and computations as directed.
Assistance in reporting function:
• Prepare regulatory reports/returns including , quarterly taxes and withholding tax.
• Prepare simple financial statements and associated note disclosures.
• Prepare additional reports as required.
The incumbent is expected to remain up to date with company operations, GAAP, IFRS, and internal policies and procedures.
Educational Requirements:
(a) Knowledge Required to Start:
Knowledge of company policies & procedures
Knowledge of products, services & operations
Ability to prepare simple financial statements
Knowledge of regulatory requirements & tax law
Knowledge of accounting principles & practices
Proficiency in MS Excel
Proficiency in Oracle Financial Software
