Role Summary 

To enhance and create a learning/teaching environment that fosters the development of each student. The environment that strengthens the intellectual, social, emotional and psychological welfare of each student. To utilize various strategies to facilitate learning.

Role Responsibilities 

  1. Create an inclusive classroom environment conducive for learning.
  2. Prepare lesson plans as required or upon request while promoting interactive learning in accordance with the National Curriculum.
  3. Ensure that students’ grades and attendances are entered and accurate in PowerSchool system.
  4. Fully participate in School and Ministerial events and activities that may occur during or outside of regular school hours.
  5. Complete thirty (30) hours of professional development training per school year.
  6. Conduct well planned lessons using current teaching strategies and techniques along with other materials to meet the needs and capabilities of the students.
  7. Assess students’ progress regularly and identify areas of deficiency while collaborating with other school professionals to implement the necessary remediation needed to improve these areas.
  8. Maintain accurate records of attendance and grades as required under the Education Act.
  9. Be honest and responsible for your actions and the students in your care.
  10. Maintain a clean and tidy classroom setting.
  11. Must be present and participate in meetings and discussions with other teachers, parents and stakeholders for further development and smooth running of the school.
  12. Include field trips to enhance lessons while providing students with real life experiences.
  13. Manage students’ behaviour and report any suspicions of abuse, neglect or abnormalities.
  14. Maintain confidentiality of students and parents' information or discussions.
  15. Respect the rights of the student, parent and others.
  16. Encourage student participation in lessons.
  17. Provide support to the leadership team of the school.
  18. Keep up to date with changes and developments in Education.
  19. Work flexible hours when deemed necessary by the Ministry.
  20. Complete assessments of work performance.
  21. Performs any other related duties as required by Principal or any other senior officer in order to contribute to the
    effectiveness and efficiency of the school.
 

Minimum Qualifications & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
  • Teacher’s certificate
  • Five (5) years' classroom experience

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of modern teaching strategies and techniques
  • Excellent knowledge of Education Act, Public Service Management Act and other regulations
  • Expert knowledge of Curriculum
  • Expert knowledge of classroom management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of the use of standard office equipment and current computer applications and software
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Sound knowledge of CPR
  • Ability to work well under pressure and work as a team
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of how children learn
Maximum Salary: $55,146 USD
