Summary:
Highly motivated Sales & Marketing Professional with an extensive knowledge and passion about the business of fast-moving consumer goods.
The individual will serve as the primary liaison between the marketing team, sales teams and customers in determining the best course of action to satisfy customer needs.
- Duties and Responsibilities:
Whilst the key focus of a Trade Development Officer (TDO) is to effectively bridge the gap between customer needs and CPJ’s capabilities, his/her responsibilities also include:
- Developing growth strategies and plans for key channels
Reviewing a select group of customers and ascertaining detailed metrics by which these accounts will be governed, and growth measured.
Recommending specific programs to achieve this growth will also be a key task.
- Managing and retaining relationships with existing clients
A key role for the TDO will be to strengthen and develop relationships with key customers.
The TDO will become the primary contact in ascertaining the customer’s satisfaction levels with CPJ.
- Having an in-depth knowledge of business products and value proposition
Understanding CPJ’s products will be paramount in being able to provide the best recommendations to customers to fulfil their needs.
- Researching business opportunities and viable income streams
Seeking out new business opportunities and the best approach to maximizing utility from these ventures will be a key focus.
- Identifying and mapping CPJ’s strengths and customer needs
Balancing infinite customer requests and a limited marketing spend will be critical in ensuring company goals are met.
- Reporting on successes and areas needing improvement
The TDO will be responsible for communicating with all relevant stakeholders within CPJ, the tracking of respective trade development programs.
Being a close point of contact with the customer, will allow the TDO to gain important insight which should be formally communicated with recommendations by which to grow the business.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Exceptional oral and written communications skills.
- Creative and innovative thinking along with well-developed negotiating skills.
- Strong management skills and supervisory techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with all levels of staff.
- Ability to work flexible hours as the needs of the service dictate, including out of normal hours as required.
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management Studies or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Tertiary Institution.
- A minimum of 2 years in FMCG sales and marketing.
