Applications are invited for suitably qualified persons to fill the following position at the North-Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA). 

SYSTEM ANALYST

The incumbent will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the activities of the Information Technology Department so that the maintenance of the various computer operating systems, administration of the Authority’s databases, network and systems security and the provision of end user support can be effectively accomplished.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the effective functioning of the Region’s computer operating systems and the development/implementation of maintenance or modification requirements efficiently and with minimal disruptions.
  • Make recommendations on the hardware, software and human resources needed to adequately support end users and office systems computing activities.
  • Research and evaluate software packages and tools related to the systems support function and make recommendations for the acquisition of appropriate products.
  • Participate in the selection and acquisition of hardware, software and human resources.
  • Ensure that the Region’s databases are established and maintained in accordance with established specifications, standards and practices and that such integrity and security are not compromised.
  • Participate in the evaluation, selection and implementation of appropriate techniques and tools for use in the administration of the operating systems and for end users’ productivity.
  • Select, supervise, coach and monitor the utilisation of subordinates to promote and maintain effective levels of productivity.
  • Participate in the preparation of the department’s annual estimates.
  • Prepare operational, informational and statistical reports as required.
  • Liaise with personnel of other departments concerning systems problems and to define end user requirements and specifications.
  • Develop program specifications, design program outputs and tests programs for quality control.
  • Provide technical support to programmers in debugging programs.
  • Develop user materials and systems producers and conduct end user training courses.
  • Prepare operational and informational reports as required by the job function.
  • Perform any other related duties as directed by the organisational relationship.

Minimum Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from a recognised University.
  • Minimum of three (3) years in a similar or related job.

* Certificates acquired at foreign universities MUST be supported by certified transcripts as well as evidence that the completed program is accredited in Trinidad and Tobago.
