To effectively and efficiently maintain all computer systems so that there is minimum disruption caused to Unicomer business operations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITES:
• Liaises professionally and confidently with all levels of computer users and with the local Telecom’s Companies/ISP’s/Hardware and Software third party support to troubleshoot problems on behalf of the company.
• Provides comprehensive high-level support on all Computers/Server/Peripherals etc. and networks and maintenance and troubleshooting services for the physical networks, utilities, hardware and underlying operating systems.
• Recommends solutions and implements technical projects within the IT Department, leading to greater efficiency, cost savings and a high level of customer service; whilst continuing to meet Operational Business Objectives.
• Ensures that all backups are successful; and that all backup media are properly secured.
• Continuously monitor systems to ensure that all Operating Systems are up to date with the most recent software updates and that the Company’s systems have the most recent Antivirus Definitions within agreed SLA.
• Plans, coordinates and implements software and hardware upgrades minimising disruption of service to the business users and carries out post-implementation evaluations.
• Works/liaises with other members of the IT team including Regional IT to ensure that the department’s/Company’s objectives are met.
• Successful completion of End of Day/Week/Period/Year Routines as required.
JOB SPECIFICATION:
QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Diploma in Information Technology/Computer Science or related discipline.
• Three (3) years’ experience within a technical role in a retail environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Must be organized, goal-oriented, self-motivated, persistent and committed, able to cope well in stress-related environments, and possess computer literacy skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Possesses a broad understanding of computer system architecture, servers and networking.
• A good understanding of VOIP would be an asset.
• Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to work on own without supervision, and as part of a team.
