Supply Chain Specialist 

Accountabilities/ Job Scope:

  • Support the development and execution of the Operations and Logistics Strategic Plan.
  • Execute and optimize the Statistical Control Production Process.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the monthly material and service records and reports.
  • Maintain an updated and accurate materials specification database.
  • Manage and optimize inventory management system.
  • Promote a strong safety and “Zero Accidents” culture.
  • Actively champion continuous improvement processes.
Functions, Responsibilities, and Tasks

1. Inventory Management & Material Integrity

  • Manage all material inventory, maintaining accurate levels to minimize waste and overstock.
  • Implement systems for real-time inventory tracking and reporting.
  • Maintain updated data on product demand to reduce the risk of supply shortages.
  • Develop, promote, and implement initiatives to control and improve material integrity.

 2. Supply Chain Planning & Optimization

  • Monitor costs across the supply chain and implement cost-saving strategies.
  • Analyse data and trends to make data-driven decisions for supply chain optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish measurable supply chain lead measures.
  • Prepare cost-benefit analysis reports.
  • Monitor supply chain performance metrics and generate KPI reports.
  • Track performance to ensure alignment with key performance indicators (KPIs).

 3. Quality Control & Technical Support

  • Execute and adhere to Quality Control methodologies to ensure customer specifications are met (chemical and physical).
  • Record physicochemical characterization of by-products by generation source.
  • Compile, integrate, and analyse the characterizations of exported materials.
  • Assist in Root-Cause Analysis investigations for quality deviations, document findings, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in process control, granulometry, moisture, and chemical composition.

4. Sustainability & Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure all supply chain activities adhere to environmental regulations and standards.
  • Monitor and report on environmental performance metrics.

 5. Customer & Generator Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with generators and customers, fostering sustainable partnerships.
  • Address generator and customer performance issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Document the features and benefits of the company’s products and services.

 6. Safety & Culture

  • Promote a strong safety and “Zero Accidents” culture.
  • Adhere to and enforce Health and Safety guidelines, standards, and regulations.
  • Promote a culture of health and safety.

7. Operations Reporting & Support

  • Assist in the maintenance and accurate updating of the Operations and Logistics Shipments sheet.
Education &/or Certification Required
Bachelor’s Degree: Supply chain management, business, accounting, or a related field.
Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Previous experience with Iron and Steel industry production processes is an asset.
  • Experience with dry bulk materials inventory management.
  • Knowledge of raw materials handling is an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of by-products.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and reporting (SAP preferred).
  • Experience with production control and cost and budget management.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with ISO and ASTM standards.
