Supply Chain Manager
SUPPLY CHAIN TEAM LEAD
The Supply Chain Team Lead is responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring the supply chain strategy to maximize efficiency and productivity. He/She ensures that all processes and systems within the supply chain framework are effectively managed.
He/She is responsible for the oversight of the Warehouse and Inventory, Purchasing and Logistics departments. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring quality standard and cost-effective procurement of goods and services, developing and maintaining supplier relationships, continuously improve inventory control measures, warehouse layout plan, planning and forecasting and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company’s inventory of products at its main warehouse and retail outlets. She/he shall ensure that the company’s policies are procedures are adhered to and all site standards are followed. He/She is also responsible for monitoring product life cycles and timely communicate any trends and changes to the company’s Executive team.
Principal Accountabilities
- Monitor and make recommendations for stock level optimization to increase cost saving.
- Maintain low levels of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) in areas such as product spoilage, deterioration and obsolescence to an acceptable standard as defined by the company.
- Maintain oversight of negotiation of terms and conditions to reduce purchasing costs and shipping and freight costs etc
- Improvement in Internal and External Customer Satisfaction with the Inventory Management System
- Maintain a collaborative relationship with all Department Heads to nurture an environment where both internal and external customer service reflects the company’s Strategic Goal of “Customer Centricity”.
- Develop and implement initiatives to continuously improve customer service levels.
- Achieve excellence in customer service via a sustained focus on QCD (Quality, Cost & Delivery)
- Development and management of policies and procedures that are applicable to the supply chain functions.
Warehouse Management
Maintain oversight of the effective management of the operations of the warehouse including:
- Meeting warehouse operational standards by contributing warehouse information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying warehouse system improvements.
- Ensure that reporting systems employed by the warehouse are aligned with best practices and give the required data and balances for audit purpose for warehouse and outlets.
- Determine optimal warehouse layout plan; adhering to storage design principles; recommending improvements.
- Investigating all product failures with a view to identifying the Root Cause of the failure, recommending improvements, and providing inputs to the company’s efforts to seek compensatory claims from suppliers where applicable.
Purchasing and Inventory Management
Responsible for the effective management of the company’s purchasing and inventory levels including:
- Manage and continuously improve the efficiency of the company’s Inventory Management System (IMS), specifically, Inventory Records Accuracy (IRA).
- Coordinates periodic and year end stock counts
- Monitor and analyze demand, inventory trends and generate reports on inventory levels , supply chain progress, procedural efficiency etc
- Development of purchasing strategy and develop and manage purchasing budgets and forecasts
- Work with relevant departments to manage inventory requirements
- Maintains continuous improvement of purchasing processes in line with changing organizational needs and market conditions
- Develop, negotiate and administer purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers in support of organizational requirements
- Produce monthly and or quarterly reports on purchase commitments, costs etc
Logistics Management
Maintains oversight of the administration of the Procurement and delivery process of goods including:
- Overseeing supplier compliance with internal quality standards and external regulations
- Oversight of the import and export process
- Establish relationships with additional suppliers and ensures win win relationships with vendors
- Development and oversight of Quality Control Metrics and Practices.
Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
- BSC in Management from a recognized University
- A Masters Degree would be considered an asset
- Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Diploma in Supply Chain Management
- At least Three (3) years’ experience in a Senior Position in the Retail and Distribution or Manufacturing and Distribution sector
- At least Five (5) years’ experience in Supply Chain Management, Warehousing, Purchasing and Logistics
- Strong knowledge of Customs and Shipping procedures
- Experience working with Occupational Safety and Health products
- Experience working with a reputable Inventory Management System
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Proficient
- Knowledge of the (Counterpoint) Inventory Management Software
