Massy Wood is recruiting for a Commercial Lead with significant experience in the EPC oil and gas industry.

Overview / Responsibilites

The Commercial Lead will play a pivotal role in supporting the tendering submissions process for the company, ensuring key commercial assumptions and commercial models reflect current market analysis and financial risk assessment perspectives. The role develops commercial strategies to achieve organisational goals which include producing innovative solutions to business needs or opportunities taking ideas and concepts from other parts of the business or other industries. This role is also crucial to post award and contract administration, supporting the execution teams in delivering contracts and contributing to the overall financial health and strategic goals of the company.

Technical

  • Bids and Proposals
  1. Presents risk assessed pricing models and proposals to senior management for review and approval
  2. Understand and apply DOA within its business as well as any appropriate sub-delegations
  3. Support Business Development team in producing Commercial write up together with commercial models for all bids
  4. Analyze and interpret tender documents to identify key commercial assumptions
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information for tender submissions
  6. Ensure tender submissions are competitive and aligned with company objectives
  7. Ability to review, redline, and draft contract Terms and Conditions to minimise risk to Wood while supporting business growth.
  8. Assist in defining, creating and maintaining management information that identifies, tracks, monitors and reports on tendering opportunities and contract improvements
  9. Construct annual unit rates/ pricing methodologies for all positions to be used by Business Development
  10. Keep up to date of market trends to accurately forecast unit cost
  11. Understand and develop complex commercial models
  12. Supports effective negotiation of Terms and Conditions such that MWG’s final position is as optimum as possible recognising the nature of the business, associated risk and reward and mitigations
  13. Develops and / or interprets cash flow forecasts in order to maximise MWG’s cash position
  • Financial Analysis
  1. Conduct detailed financial analysis to support tendering and contract decisions
  2. Prepare financial models and forecasts to assess the viability of contracts
  3. Provide insights and recommendations to optimize contract margins
  4. Assist in defining, creating and maintaining management information that identifies, track, monitor and report on tendering opportunities and contract improvements
  5. Compile, analyse and interrogate regional/local data including spend data, demand, specification and supplier information and feedback this analysis to stakeholders and project teams
  6. Analyse, categorise and interrogate spend data within Massy Wood Group (MWG)
  7. Support special projects, including those led by the Business Development team, to develop commercial models for new business/ bids and trading opportunities
  8. Provide monitoring information, including benchmarking data, and respond to ad-hoc data queries and requests as required by Senior Management.
  • Contract Administration:
  1. Understands the business and project life cycle and how it is commercially governed and managed
  2. Perform effective Commercial Handover from business development proposal to project delivery, ensuring all stakeholders in the project have a full understanding of the project scope, compensation model and contractual risks
  3. Undertake Know Your Contract roll outs to the contract execution team
  4. Review all new contracts for commercial context and provide guidance to the team.
  5. Support the commercial administration of contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
  6. Monitor contract performance and margins, identifying areas for improvement.
  7. Ability to identify commercial risks to each contract and provide recommendations to Contract Managers
  8. Resolve any contractual issues that arise during the execution of contracts
  9. Provide sound commercial advice/recommendation to Senior Management.
  • Stakeholder Management:
  1. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth contract execution.
  2. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
  1. Prepare regular reports on contract performance and financial metrics.
  2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all contracts and tenders.
  3. Produce ad hoc reports for Management where necessary.
  4. Undertake contract health assessments (FMF assessments)

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Management or a related field from a recognised university
  • ACCA or equivalent.
  • Understanding of bonds, letters of credit, collateral warranties, parent company guarantees (PCGs)
  • At least ten (10) years relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a commercial analyst role, preferably in the oil and gas industry
  • High degree of Computer Literacy.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Good working knowledge of cost management software e.g. MPower or equivalent.
  • Valid Certificate of Good Character (must not be older than 6 months).
  • Preference will be given to national citizens or permanent residents of Trinidad & Tobago.
