The incumbent is required to provide technical support in the operations and maintenance of the ICT infrastructure for the ABIL group under the guidance and direction of the Manager of Networks and Infrastructure and the Group CIO as the skip level.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for planning, designing and maintenance of physical and virtual environment / networks.
  • Automate the setup of user profiles and shared network resources via group policy.
  • Imaging of software applications required by end users across the group.
  • Assist with the setup and deployment of laptops, desktops, servers, printers, firewalls, switches and other networking devices.
  • Setup, patching and management of client and server operating systems for the  group.
  • Automates the deployment of desktop applications e.g.: Microsoft O365, Anti-virus.
  • Enable faster and smarter business processes and develop analytics for meaningful insights.
  • Perform server administration tasks (e.g. user/group, security permissions, group policies, print services); research event-log warnings and errors; and monitor resources to ensure that systems architecture components work together seamlessly.
  • Monitors data-center health using existing management tools and respond to issues as they arise.
  • Maintain internal infrastructure requirements, including laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, security updates, internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments.
  • Assist the help desk and other teams with troubleshooting to identify root cause and provide technical support when needed.
  • Perform routine and scheduled audits of all systems, including backups.
  • Must meet with in-line manager on a daily basis to discuss work in progress, outstanding tickets, assigned daily duties.
  • Set up, monitor, configure and checks the backup solution on a daily basis and resolve failed jobs in a timely manner.
  • To  build  effective  relationships  with  contractors,  service  providers  and suppliers and ensure that Service Level Agreements(SLA’s) are met.
  • Supervises the technical officers and ensures tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the ICT managers and / or Group CIO.

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant technical experience.
  • Training as evidenced by the possession of a recognized degree, BSc. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Computer Information Systems or a related area.
  • CompTIA A+, CompTIA N+,CCNA and or relevant Microsoft certification will be an asset. Evidence of certification must be shown.
  • Spanish as a second language will be an asset.
  • Training in Project Management will be an asset.
