SENIOR QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICER
The Caribbean Maritime University (CMU), the only specialized maritime university in the English-speaking Caribbean, is inviting applications for Senior Quality Assurance Officer (Level 7).
SUMMARY
The Senior Quality Assurance Officer ensures the robust performance, integrity and security of the university’s Quality Management Systems (QMS). The Senior Quality Assurance Officer provides support to the Director, Quality Assurance and guidance to the Quality Assurance Officers in the daily management of the QMS. The Senior Quality Assurance Officer will liaise with the Office of Digital Transformation to enable user access, and will be integral in the planning, troubleshooting and resolution of any issues on the behalf of all end-users of the QMS (CMU Cloushare). The Senior Quality Assurance Officer also ensures the reduction and elimination of non-conforming outputs across the university by monitoring compliance with the QMS and identifying gaps to be addressed.
KEY PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors internal and external corrective actions to ensure timely implantation and validation of their effectiveness;
- Ensures corrective actions are undertaken to address non-conformances;
- Verifies the closure of non-conformances with Functional Areas across the university;
- Manages the Audits Nonconformance log;
- Drafts sampling procedures and directions for recording and reporting quality data;
- Evaluates audit findings and implements appropriate corrective actions;
- Drafts procedures to inspect and report quality related issues;
- Prepares detailed analysis of non-conformances;
- Ensures ongoing compliance with the CMU QMS as well as other university wide policies and procedures;
- Collects and compiles statistical quality data;
- Analyses quality data to identify areas of improvement in the quality systems;
- Develops and manages annual audit plan and scope of activities;
- Oversees follow-up audits to monitor Process Owners’ interventions;
- Ensures that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly;
- Communicates regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security;
- Escalates security and disaster related challenges of the database (CMU Cloudshare) to the Office of Digital Transformation;
- Makes recommendations to improve the CMU Cloudshare for efficiency and user-friendliness;
- Monitors performance and manages parameters in order to provide fast responses to end user;
- Drafts quality assurance policies and procedures;
- Interprets and recommends quality assurance standards and procedures;
- Evaluates adequacy of quality assurance standards;
- Documents internal audits and other quality assurance activities;
- Investigates customer complaints and non-conforming outputs;
- Develops, recommends and monitors corrective and preventive actions;
- Prepares reports to communicate outcomes of quality activities;
- Coordinates and supports on-site audits conducted by external and internal interested parties;
- Monitors risk management activities;
- Assures ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements;
- Monitors records of quality reports, statistical reviews and relevant documentation;
- Communicates with external quality assurance stakeholders during on-site inspections;
- Provides support to any functional area of the University, that requires assistance to maintain regulatory and quality requirements in their processes;
- Develops training programmes for internal users in areas related to Quality Systems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to collect and compile statistical quality data;
- Analyze quality data to identify areas for improvement in the quality systems;
- Knowledge in quantitative and analytical skills;
- Knowledge of auditing standards and procedures;
- Excellent documentation and communication skills;
- Ability to create, compose and edit written materials;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
- Ability to engage basic research techniques and methodologies;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively and communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Education Administration, Computer Science or related discipline
- Training in areas related to quality assurance
- At least three (3) years’ experience in related area
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word.
