Senior Maintenance Technician (Steel & Metal Production Sector)

Overview: Our client is the Caribbean’s leading provider of prefabricated steel buildings and metal products. They have been established for many years and are recognized as a trusted single-source supplier of durable, high quality steel structures and metal products for commercial, industrial, residential, and agricultural construction throughout the Caribbean region.

Due to growth, they are seeking to recruit a proven professional to join the team in Barbados to ensure the efficient maintenance of machinery and provide support to the maintenance team, in addition to supporting the general objectives of the company.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development of the maintenance team by providing on-the-job training, sharing technical expertise and supporting continuous learning to enhance team capability and performance.
• Implementation and execution of maintenance preventative programs and schedules to ensure that the plant and equipment are operating safely.
• Installation of electrical and electronic machinery components.
• Inspect, operate and test machinery or equipment to diagnose and repair malfunctions.
• Plan and coordinate the implementation of new equipment installations and machinery upgrades.
• Maintaining the inventory of machinery parts and supplies.
• Alert departmental managers or supervisors of machinery deemed unsafe for use.
• Provide technical assistance to support team members.
• Collaborate with internal and external customers to resolve complex issues and improve processes.

Desired Skills & Experience:

• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar maintenance role.
• Strong supervisory, teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of electrical and maintenance systems
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair machinery and equipment
• Experience with preventative maintenance techniques
• Commitment to adhering to safety protocols and regulations
• Good written and oral communication skills
