The Senior Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of all equipment used in the LPG distribution process to ensure the targeted production of all cylinders are achieved. .

Job Specifications

Equipment Maintenance & Repair:

  • Perform or oversee the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of all LPG distribution systems and associated equipment /assets (e.g., tanks, pumps, valves, pipelines, compressors) in a timely manner ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Guarantee the effective execution of all maintenance tasks occur to ensure equipment is maintained according to Breakdowns, daily, monthly, weekly, quarterly and yearly maintenance schedules.
  • Liaise with the Maintenance Management to effectively diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and other-related issues in a timely manner ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently, minimizing downtime and disruptions.

Inspection & Safety:

  • Conduct regular inspections of all systems to ensure they are compliant with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Ensure proper safety protocols are followed during repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Responsible for reviewing daily the cleanliness of the general environment in and around the Plant area and liaise with the Facilities team to ensure the area is kept clean at all times.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and ensure compliance in all maintenance practices.

Quality Control:

  • Verify that all filled cylinders meet the required weight specifications to ensure customer satisfaction and collaborate with the Plant Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Engineer to address any issues that cannot be resolved independently.
  • Inform the Plant Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Engineer, Production Manager, or Operations Manager when it is necessary to bypass or deactivate quality control equipment, such as the O-ring machine, leak detection system, etc.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving recurring discrepancies in filled cylinder weight, and report findings to the Plant Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Engineer.
  • Collects, records, and prepares both manual and computerized daily scale reports, and submits them to the Plant Maintenance Manager/Operations Manager for review and analysis of cylinder weight variances in a timely manner.

 Team Supervision & Training:

  • Ensures your direct reports signs off on all the required maintenance sheets after completion of tasks and submits the same to the Maintenance Management Team.
  • Lead and mentor junior maintenance technicians, providing technical guidance and support.
  • Assists with verifying and approving all time sheets, overtime sheets and any other pay related documentation for Plant Maintenance Employees and submit to Plant Maintenance Manager in a timely manner.
  • Train team members on new equipment, systems, and procedures to improve efficiency and skills development.
  • Coordinate and delegate maintenance tasks to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the efficient and effective staffing/rostering of direct reports to ensure timely completion of maintenance activities in accordance with approved policies and guidelines.

Preventative Maintenance:

  • Adhere to the preventative maintenance schedule to reduce the occurrence of equipment failures and prolong the lifespan of company assets.

Record-Keeping & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate maintenance sheets and records of all repair activities, including parts used and time spent etc by reviewing and signing off on the relevant daily, weekly and monthly sheets to ensure accuracy and that activities were conducted as per the schedule.
  • Report equipment status, maintenance activities, and potential issues to the Maintenance Management team.
  • Assist in preparing reports for audits and regulatory inspections when required.
  • Supports any of the Maintenance Management when required.

Emergency Response:

  • Respond to emergency breakdowns, outages, and other urgent maintenance issues promptly to minimize operational downtime.

Person Specification

  • Technician’s Diploma from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Certificate Course in LPG Safety would be an asset.
  • Supervisory training is an asset
  • A minimum of three (3) years performing similar duties.
  • Working knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices as it applies to the OSH Act of Trinidad & Tobago
  • PC skills (MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Technical Skills- mechanical, electrical, PLC, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Welding, Instrumentation, Pump and Valve Maintenance, Automation Control Systems.
