Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day-to-day maintenance of company property and facilities, ensuring tasks are performed efficiently and safely, and taking a hands-on approach in all duties, including plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical, masonry and dry wall.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Property and Equipment Maintenance

• Maintain general knowledge of property, construction, machinery, and operational systems, including, air conditioning, exhaust systems, lighting, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, sewer, and water supply. 
• Perform all related work in the maintenance and repair of properties owned by the Excellent Group of Companies and its Directors.
• Perform regular inspections and diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues before engaging external contractors.
• Make recommendations to the Maintenance Manager for the scheduling of repairs including but not limited to, installations, air conditioning equipment, generators, grease traps, fire extinguishers, fire alarms, roofs, floors and other equipment by maintenance personnel and/or external contractors.
• Perform day to day repairs and other general maintenance duties including but not limited to painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, construction, etc.
• Provide simple, yet concise operational instructions to the Maintenance Team for various equipment/systems as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
• Identify and recommend opportunities to the Maintenance Manager to improve equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
• Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all maintenance work is performed safely.

Company Vehicles and Machinery

• Assist the Maintenance Manager with the maintenance and service of all company vehicles, forklifts, generators and other machinery.
• Work with the Maintenance Manager to evaluate equipment costs and make recommendations of repair versus replacement.
• Provide support to the Maintenance Manager in the procurement of new equipment, vehicles, new construction, service contracts and the evaluation of same.
• Ensure compliance of all vehicles with the Motor Vehicles Act. Perform general maintenance on vehicles and ensure adherence to maintenance schedules.
• Ensure proper care, maintenance and safe keeping of company tools, office furniture and maintain and update inventory listing.
• Assist the Maintenance Manager with transporting furniture to and from various facilities/sites, set up and dismantle of office furniture and all other equipment.
• Work with the Maintenance Manager to identify projects and tasks requiring higher expertise and assist with the procurement and evaluation of same.
• Assist with the repair of mini appliances under warranty from the branches.

People Management

• Assist the Maintenance Manager in the supervision of the Maintenance Personnel.
• Be fully knowledgeable on all technical aspects of property maintenance and is able to train staff on same including the company’s policies and procedures.
• Work alongside the Maintenance Manager to fairly and appropriately delegate tasks, assess staff performance and handle disciplinary action when necessary.
• Assist the Maintenance Manager in effectively rostering staff.
• Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
